Mateta and Nketiah

I am afraid Eze is not performing great, The idea is to get the best 11 on the pitch, with Wharton off form, Mitchell off form, Muñoz injured, i think 442 with the best 11 players is IMO what is needed, but you have to get Sarr, Eze, Mateta and Nketiah on the pitch, then 3 out of the four would be in position IMO
Its a common view among fans that we start with the best 11 when its probably better for balance not to. We are never going to finish strong if our best 11 are knackered at the end of the game . Far better to freshen things up with half hour to go with a couple of our better players that can do some damage .

I do agree with a back 4 though ,suits our squad better and can put another body in midfield where we have been out numbered and overrun in games this season

Moving to a back four makes sense, especially if Munoz is out, but I think away to Forest a 433/451 might be less of a leap. Just for kicks, maybe something like this which could allow Wharton to push on when we have the ball with Lerma and Chalobah both being physical and offering good defensive cover. Eze and Sarr would need to put more of a shift in. JP showed no signs of sulking when he came off the bench which is a good sign. Nketiah has had very little football over the last year so maybe he needs to earn a starting spot in the same way Kamada still has to.

There in lies the weakness in your suggestion. Despite their undoubted talents and ability to change games with one piece of magic, neither of them has shown the ability or desire to “put a shift in”. Olise was similar when he started and while he was always more of a racehorse than a workhorse, he did learn to track back and try to contribute defensively. That coupled with his ability to change games almost at will made him a definite on every team sheet. These two feel more of a luxury at the moment, neither of them contributing much defensively or producing moments of magic often enough.

Nketiah is proving to be an expensive waste of money. The due diligence has to be questioned. He never really had the stats to back up a 25m pound move. Our club have been seriously over ambitious in their transfer of a squad player that has rarely proved a consistent performer. The game against Forest showed up his inability to win and hold the ball up during play (unlike Mateta) so even with a lack of goals he’s still not adding much value. Very disappointing.
