Mass shooting in Sweden

10 people shot dead at a school in Sweden on Monday, but 4 days later not a word about it here.

Why is that? Those here are usually very quick to comment on events in Sweden.

Could it be that this time the victims appear to probably be immigrants and the perpetrator a locally born loner?
 
True, but it isn't much different is it? There wouldn't be this issue either if there were proper immigration policies. There would be no far right without the influx of frankly ridiculous asylum and refugee claims. I regularly meet refugees from countries where nothing is happening. Perhaps this guy did too but obviously took a very wrong way to deal with
I condemn the shootings wholeheartedly but am not stupid enough to not notice the actual causes.
And don't try and get in a game of right bad, liberal policies good as it isn't going to wash.

Sweden to tighten up its gun laws, why not ban them altogether.

One thing we do have in the UK is good firearms legislation, although you cannot prevent it entirely obviously, its 5 years for possession.

In the USA they just look at you blankly if you dare to suggest their casual relationship with guns is at all responsible for the mayhem.

That would be amusing if it wasn't so pitiful.

To politicans, we are just acceptable collateral. The colour is only important when it serves their purpose.

It could be a fellow immigrant as it says they were also a student .
Most in this school were that and my first comment for WE which I posted if he can be bothered to look back was that it was maybe another immigrant doing the shooting but I reckon I comment on these things and 9 out of 10 I’m probably correct.
 
I don't give a rats ass if they were immigrants. People shouldn't die senselessly whatever the 'cause' or 'reason' the perpetrator may have had. Jmo.

As far as gun laws in general, I agree as an American that we need to sharpen those up over here but with the kind of population we have, waaayyyyy easier said than done.

He was named locally as a 35 year old local man, Rickard Andersson. That was just before the other thread went quiet for some reason.

violent nutjobs in our World. All bad. And whether its Isis Jihadists or Anders Breivik wannabees......its all bad. Sign of a sick society. I fully condemn Mr Andersson....same as i condemn all the other apolitical stabby feckers that blight London every week.

Is it statistically unlikely that a violent event in Sweden should be carried out by a Swedish person?

They do but look at America where these events occur with frightening regularity and are usually down to one or two unhinged individuals who are not really worthy of much discussion beyond the accessibility of guns.

Again, very much agreed. But how many pages do you reckon this thread would have now if it was an immigrant that did it?
