Surely it will be the decision of the new manager whether to keep these players. They will have their own ideas of what an attacking unit should be and these players might not fit the archetype

It might not be as simple as that. For example, the 80 odd million spent on Strand-Larsen and Johnson could have been made on the understanding Uche would not be acquired.

Yep hopefully Hobbes will be able to identify some or already has and we can get them in. It’s early days for him, the summer was Parish directly.

Think it would be a conflict of interest for Dougie in the scenario you describe. I know you wouldn’t expect us to be in for the same players really but the Saudi club wouldn’t have it. He’d also be liable for a lot of UK tax all of a sudden.

You’d actually be surprised some of the players that rock up to the second, third tier etc in Saudi, UAE, Qatar et al. The money does help.

Consider this movie to be us on our baggage train, having packed up the Uefa Conference Silverware.....the chasing army is Uefa bureaucrats trying to nail us on a legal technicality and rob the cup back. We climb up to the high ground of Crystal Palace Park.....and witness the sea engulf Uefa and Brighton.

The way I see it. The Golden Squad peaked last May. Beyond our wildest dreams. But none of them have exactly set the world alight since then. Let them go if they don’t want to be here. There job was done. New manager, new team. I’m confident SP will do only what’s necessary to keep us in the premier league and that’s it.
 
The players out of contract this summer are:
  • Kamada
  • Clyne
  • Lerma
I expect all 3 will be gone along with Uche whose loan won't be turned into a permanent deal.

Looking at our overloaded forward group, I expect both Mateta and Nketiah will be sold leaving us with Strand Larsen, Johnson, Sarr, Pino and an option on Guessand. (Pino may well be retained if the new manager can find a place for him in his preferred system).

Midfield, as has been noted by several posters is the problem area.

Assuming Lerma and Kamada do leave (which is the likely outcome) we're left with:
  • Wharton
  • Hughes
  • Devenny
  • Ozoh
  • Doucoure
The last named may never play again at this level and may never play again period.

IMO, Wharton will only go if silly money is offered.

Ozoh is doing well at Derby and might well be sold to them. Either way, we need strengthening in this area with at least one midfielder who has an eye for goal.

It will be interesting to see what happens re Munoz.

We undoubtedly live in interesting times - never boring being a Palace fan.
