Marinakis suing Palace for Defamation

I'm curious of how does he actually get anything from this, other then looking like a sissy?

Evangelos Marinakis has a laundry list of skeletons in his background that makes Infantino looks like an Angel. Does he really want his personal history played out in the media every day of a court proceeding?

Add in that Woody Johnson is actually worth more then Marinakis so the money pressure isn't going to work on an owner-to-owner level. Steve will be doing the talking but the people who pay the bills all have First Amendment tattoo'd on their tally wackers and won't be inclined to do anything but laugh at him. Yes, it will be in a UK court, but they still aren't going to care.

Can the team be held liable for the fans actions? What could actually happen in this case? I am curious to how much leeway fans have to express their hatred at other teams, including their owners.

Great point. Gather all of the evidence of the hatred that Notts Forest have sent our way, and that they've sent the way of Derby County, then see how that stands as a precedent.

it's definitely out of the Trump play book.

A few issues immediately spring to mind.

1. It wasn't Palace's display, it was brought in my fans.
2. It actually said he wasn't involved in any of the things listed
3. He will need to prove they are wrong - not having been charged with something is quite a low bar
4. Has he suffered any damage to his reputation etc
 
Luckily, it's not Marinakis in the dock, or they'd have to move the trial to the Port of London to fit him in. Am I allowed to make fat jokes, or does he also think he's thin?

I think that is his biggest issue with this, he just let fans know that they can get under his skin.

Now his club will have to deal with this pretty much any away game.

He is used to court and winning. Trouble will be is most of the muck has never be proven in court so thinks he is onto a winner
