Marc Guéhi

I’m going to get slaughtered for this… strap in.

Everyone says MG has all the cards, but I don’t think that is entirely true but it is going to take real balls of steel…

There is no way a club out there would not be willing to pay £35/40 million for a player of his age and Rolls Royce quality. However, Marc I think will stay and go on a free next year. Win win for him, guaranteed starter so pretty shoe in for World Cup.

Now Parrish can’t let that happen, he can’t let MG go for free but Marc is under contract so it’s a stale mate if he’s not willing to go or move anywhere.

So Parrish has to do this.
Offer him a signing bonus of say £10 million plus increase in wages to sign an extension with a low buy out clause of say £45 million or so. If he won’t sign it and I know it’s self harm… he gets benched. I know I know, he’s the captain etc etc but he is not looking out for us and somebody needs to start making a stand with these players that are happy to run there contacts down.
He will not like it but it’s business and Parrish says he will always do what’s right for Palace. This is it.

I’d rather cut my nose off than be held to ransom. With the World Cup at seasons end would he risk it? I also think Newcastle should do it to that dick Isaac.

Players only have the power because clubs let them. This will change in the next decade as was pointed out today on talk shite, people are cancelling there sky and tnt subscription at a huge rate, people getting apps and sticks. The big money is going to drop massively, it’s completely unsustainable.

Theory isn't bad, but its not the way you would want to treat Marc. Seams like a solid bloke, who, is just exercising his right to see out his contract.

But yeah, I really do hope that we can get him to sign an extension with a pretty low buyout. Never know, he seams like they type of guy that Parish could pull into his office and have a quiet word with.

I think Liverpool will hold out as long as possible to see if Palace blink
The problem that could arise is if at the last minute Livepool come in close to or at the asking price.
It's too late to get a replacement, but on the other hand the club don't want to relinquish the opportunity to get the reputed £40 million (a comparative bargain for a player of that age and quality).
Parish has indicated he doesn't want him going on a free for obvious reasons.

From Guehi's perspective, if Liverpool is his preference, it makes sense to wait a year when van Dijk will be 35 and have a year left on his contract - on his wages they might well be looking to move him out then
I haven't seen any details of the Elliott swap proposal, if it exists, but reports are that they value him at
£40 m which seems a lot for a player who's not a regular so presumably a straight swap although they'll probably expect a few million as well.

By all accounts, Marc has been the model professional. He can't help it if Palace don't reach an agreement with Liverpool over a fee. Obviously, it's not great for the club's finances if he goes for nothing, but he's been a huge success and by the end of his contract will have given us five years and two trophies (at least) for £18m. A bargain.
If he stays and goes on a free next year, and we still need the cash now, presumably that means we’re more likely to sell one of our other star players

I was accepting of a situation where Guehi went this window for anything around £35M or above.

BUT if LiVARpool are being twats about it and trying to get him for a lot less than that then yeah - stuff ‘em…make them and Marc wait.

If this transfer doesn’t happen this window then they’ve clearly thrashed out the full wage details and signing on sweetener for next year during these discussions. Once the window closes it would be unfortunate if VVD and Konaté both picked up long term injuries.

I could see the sense in him signing a big contract 5 years with a loan to Palace for a season, not sure Liverpool would like that deal, but if its 30m who knows. it covers Guehi from a serious injury this season, which i really hope doesn't happen

For a start Liverpool don’t have a massive need for him, but he is available so why not take a punt. Not sure Marc, thinks Liverpool is the move he wants, if he wants a move, playing time for a start in question.
He is without doubt an outstanding talent ,the surprise is no one is stepping in here because he will be a bargain whatever. If anyone really wants him they can’t wait a season by that stage it will be an auction of sorts, so they need to move now. The general feeling is he won’t sign a new contract, but there is plenty time for it to happen. Only Parish, and the player know if it’s completely off the table.
If it is a no goer he could go for as little as £25-£30m because the field is Liverpools and Parish is in a corner. Marc, could still put a spanner in that situation.

If we keep Marc this season we've saved having to fork out at least 30m for a decent replacement at this stage of the window and we have the best English CB for another season. Gives us time to look for another in January at a good price, then if he goes next summer we're already covered and the money we lose on a free will hopefully be repaid by another trophy and a top half finish. Once fit, and now he's settled in, Chadi will be good player when he gets a few games under his belt. Perhaps get Trev back on loan too

Not sure if this has been mentioned but aren't Liverpool on the brink of announcing their signing of another CB? Thought this would indicate something? From BBC:

"Liverpool manager Arne Slot on the club's pursuit of Parma defender Giovanni Leoni: "The clubs have agreed a deal but he hasn't signed for us yet, the moment he has signed for us I can go into more detail."

Sell Guehi this summer for £30M - Buy a replacement CB for £30M…net spend zero.

Don’t sell Guehi this summer (walks for free) - Buy a replacement CB for £30M…net spend £30M

I’m also unsure the kind of Season we’ll get from him whilst he’s running his last few months down. Look at the situation with TAA at Liverpool, that was a total distraction that neither then club or the player needed and it affected his performances considerably.

This boy is thought to be more one for the future, don’t fully believe that, but if true, it would seem they want Guehi, for similar money, which is plain daft as Guehi is worth more than double that, meaning not only do they get a great player but they save at least another £30m .

I would say Liverpool definitely need him. They have only 3 CBs in their squad and Gomez is always injured. They have already played a midfielder as a CB in pre-season friendlies, so they definitely need a quality addition.

I wouldn't take less than £40m for MG, however, supposedly Liverpool have bid/aiming to bid £30m plus £5m add ons - so that's already more than your estimate.

I suspect if the bid increases to £35m with £5m add ons to get to our valuation we would be tempted to accept.

I think the only thing you have got correct is that Marc could put a spanner in the situation. I agree, he can't be forced out, it is very much his decision.

I did say they don’t have a massive need, that’s not no need at all. If they have then they should get their finger out and grab an absolute steal at £40m.
It’s all opinions so we can differ, but if Liverpool have an urgent need they better get this deal done before it’s too late for Palace to replace. The latest reports say they are well apart.
The figures I use are what Parish, is going to be left with if Liverpool play about, and as of now no one else wants the player. He might fetch 40m at Christmas, but if not it has to be much lower or as known nothing.
Disagree it’s opinions not fact.

TAA and Guehi are completely different characters. I am confident that Guehi's Christian faith commitment will ensure that he'll continue to give Palace of his best until the end of his contract if he stays.
