The Sun is reporting that we’ve offered £15 million for Akanji. If so then presumably it’s not as a backup for our 2 centre backs but an attempt to get experience in to replace Guehi and have some money in the bank. Mixed feelings about that.

Doesn't fit our age profile, so may be clickbait. £15m for 2 or 3 seasons? Not so sure, but the stumbling block may be money. Not worth £100k a week which I'm guessing is where he's at. If that's wrong it may be a desperate option to allow us to get some money for MG.

Reportedly £180,000 a week.

Pro's. Experienced premier league CD, 2 years left on contract (Eze), Swiss, No AFCON, cheap fee.
Cons, 30,(VVD 34), High wages,
3 year contract at 90k a week, 14.1m, Man City, 130k a week (current salary) 13.5m left

If Glasner wants him its a yes from me.

Great player. Good injury record. Played a lot for city. Its a yes from me. (The money would have to work however)

If it looks like we aer going to loose Marc, this is exactly the sort of signing you want. Someone who come straight in and perform.

Only issue is I suspect he could start for most sides across Europe.

Don't Man City want Guehi? 25m plus Akanji

It makes me laugh when people say "Doesn't fit our age profile", everyone we sign can't be 19-22 can they?

Just look at Munoz (28), Sosa (27). Yes no resale for a deal like Akanji but a possible 3-5 years of an excellent player if all goes well.

Exactly. Plus we cant have a team of 22 year olds. As with everything in life, its all about balance.

Having that experience in the squad would be excellent for Lacoix, Richard and Riad.

I think it's an important point that someone like Akanji would allow Parish to sell Guehi while ensuring Glasner was appeased with the arrival of a player of a similar standard who's PL ready. I'd be happy with this.
One big thing in Akanji's favour is his wealth of experience,30 years old but centre backs have a longer shelf life than most outfield players, overall a good possible buy for us.
