Macclesfield or tonight

a) sky tv said this is the worst Burnley form in 164 years.

b) Macclesfield are a pub team.

Take your pick , a or b.

In terms of money, its the Burnley game - it illustrates just how shyte our Form is. Two goals up, us at Home, against a shyte Burnley and still we fv.ck it up. That could kill the goose that lays the golden egg. Cos West Ham are in good form.

Tonight. Macclesfield may feel worse but things like that can happen and are usually a bad day you laugh about after some time. Ask fans of Bavaria Munic about TSV Vestenbergsgreuth or look up which Bavaria squad lost against them in the early 90s. Bavaria Munic still were a top-team after the defeat. Our defeat today was the climax of a continued way down, not a slip-up.

Macclesfield was perhaps the most Palace thing ever. And actually, albeit perhaps difficult to see at the moment, actually part of the legend building that goes with this thing of ours. Because only Palace...right?

But last night? Last night was meant to be the lift-off. Palace getting back to their winning ways (of recent fame). Win at Brighton then see the great new hope smash two goals in. Lovely. Pushing up back up the table, perhaps a sniff of Europe again given our end of season form has been rather good of late. Smashing! And then...

Last night was GUTTING. Usually I can shake off bad results by the morning. Have that first cup of tea in the morning and just shrug it off. But last night? Nah. Different gravy. Still feeling sick to the pit of my stomach.

Come on, get real, it’s Macclesfield. Burnley are a poor team and we capitulated, which is always the worst thing a team can do, but at least they’re in the same division as us. We didn’t just lose to Macclesfield, you wouldn’t have known who the premier league team was, total embarrassment

I don't disagree with the meat and bones of what you have written. And I get all of that. But the FA is about the giant killing and so on. We win the cup then get done by a non-league club in our very next outing. Stuff of legends, albeit us covered in s*** but still so Meta-Palace. We bang on about this roller coaster and that particular dip literally vertical.

But come the morning after, over it. Yes, took a bit of stick but so what? That's just how the game goes. Even oddly pleased for Macclesfield because as you rightly said, they deserved it. 100%.

But last nights results? I think because I was just so so chuffed after going 2-0 up. My expectations not only for the game but the rest of the season, through the roof. And all on top of beating Brighton on Sunday. Still nauseous even now. And that aint me when it comes to Palace. Long learnt to shrug it off, to tell myself that in the great scheme of things it does not really matter that much. With last night teaching me how it still can f***ing REALLY hurt.

And yes, more fool me. But still wearing the Red and Blue paper hat even now? Going to take a while to feel right again.

For me the Macclesfield result will go down as our worst ever game. Not only is it the most embarrassing, it is the worst result in the history of the FA cup. That is a fact that will remain for many many years, and may never be beaten (unless they beat Brentford 🤞🏻)

Whereas I was totally fckud off with last nights result and performance,( especially as it took 3 bloody hours to get to the ground 🤬) but at the end of the day it will just go down as a 2-3 loss and it’s not the first time we have let a 2 goal lead slip.

Somehow the Burnley result made me feel worse. Probably because of the false dawn of the Brighton game and also because it was a league match. The FA Cup is an annual event and we can try and win it again next year. The consequences of relegation will last much longer.

Macclesfield was almost funny. Of all the team to go from winning the FA Cup to losing to a non league side, it had to be us. The fact that the last time it happened we were the non league side is just incredibly Palace. Burnley was a f***ing disgrace. There isn't a single good reason to throw away that lead to that opposition. We couldn't have been in a better position and we still threw it away by being careless and complacent

After more than 50 years supporting Palace, I’m no stranger to disappointment. I remember one last home game, where everyone through their season tickets onto the pitch as we got relegated, Yep it was our last home game, so a futile protest and if anything made me laugh. On paper, Macclesfield might go down as our worst-ever defeat, but that’s one I can accept as everyone loves an underdog, and these things happen in football.
Last night, though, felt different. I sat there in my seat, mouth open as they equalised, and then in total disbelief when it went to 2–3. I honestly can’t remember ever feeling so let down by a Palace side. Walking back to the car alongside so many other supporters, all of us in shock, there was a collective numbness I’ve never experienced before.
I can genuinely say I’ve never felt as disappointed as I did last night and I’m still gutted as realisation hits that we are in real trouble.

Burnley as a defender point of view

Macclesfield we wasn't in it from first min and I laughed watching , Burnley I was spitting blood
