Liz Truss to sue PM over claim she crashed economy

Well this should be interesting...I watched her be interviewed by Jacob Rees-Mogg on GB News before the election. I wish I could say it was an impartial and unbiased piece of TV journalism, but unfortunately she lives on another planet called Liz Truss
She is factually correct.

The series of events and who structurally did what are known.

If it goes to the courts it would be proved that this statement is reputational damage and I'd say she has a very strong chance of winning a libel case here.

Interesting to see what develops.

A libel case is great media... Jonathan Aitken (lost and then jailed) Gillian Taylforth ("she gave good head" - lost) James Dyson (lost) Jeffrey Archer (won, then lost and jailed) Laurence Fox - lost.
A rich person's folly....

How dare you bring up Gillian Taylforth!

She was innocent.

Everybody knows that she blowed....but she didn't inhale.

Reputational damage? In her case that's like Kojak suing someone who said he needed a haircut.

I was thinking of Nigella Lawson's action against 2 of her staff for theft. Somehow the judge allowed Nigella's use of cocaine to be included in the evidence which seems pretty irrelevant when the case is about your staff nicking stuff.

Anyway my point is that if Truss can get Starmer into court she may well drag up a load of embarrassing staff about him as they did with Nigella.

He would be better off apologising.

It's just a 'desist' letter so I don't expect Sir Keir with his legal knowledge to be too bothered.

But Liz can tell us what actually happened and who is actually responsible can't she?

Of course we know it was not her, she was only the Prime Minister.

The treasury and BOE, surely nobody trusts their abilities by now, what was their actual advice, all wrong as usual?

🤔
