Letby – more information coming to light

No, there are huge gaps in my knowledge of the case. My opinions have been formed by media reporting on the trial. I am as much an expert on law, as I am on football.

David Davis MP was right behind driving the need for retrial. Hope that helps you decide.

My own opinion, based on only what i read.
Her conviction was based on a statistical probability, no hard/scientific evidence. Apart from the notes she wrote to herself.
She might be guilty, but my own thoughts were that the conviction was unsafe, being reliant so heavily on statistical probability.
This potential review might expose a few deficiencies in the way the trial was conducted. too early to say if she's innocent,....but she might well be.
Completely agree with this.

More likely to be systematic failures.
To ruin someone's life (Letby) and to testify against her in court, to protect 'the system' and cover your own @r5e. We need to find the real culprit(s) if she's innocent.

It's like the Post Office thing, again. Protect the system and the people at the top.

Throw everyone else under the bus

Guys - this was the longest criminal trial in history- dozens of experts called and who were cross examined. She called no evidence and was convicted. Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal as hopeless.
She had a massive legal team of top lawyers, and now loopy David Davis and a discredited doctor claim she is innocent.
I know people on here love a conspiracy theory but she is guilty as hell and will hopefully rot in hell. She is giving the big one in prison and best mates with other child murderers.

She couldn’t use professionals for some reason. There is a documentary highlighting this. If you think she did it so be it but this is about the absolute nailed on guilt of her and the deeper you dig it asks questions. Do you get a VO to see her as you seem to know an awful lot.

Man versus Machine ...or woman in this case.

I know a bit yes. I followed the case and the appeal. Read this

To still have my opinion like you have yours. Nope. I watched the tv version.
It’s if the conviction is safe. If she was guilty it wasn’t proven beyond reasonable doubt. Do you not think ummm 500 odd cases involving babies just maybe it’s not as safe as it should be.

Absolutely spot on.

I’ve posted in detail previously on this thread, regarding the trial, the re-trial and also the appeal.

The evidential standard was explained at great length by the trial judge. The jury(s) found her guilty of a total of 7 murders and eight attempted murders. Beyond reasonable doubt was established in all of those cases. Letby is serving 15 whole life orders.

The sentencing remarks were very telling, as was the speed with which her appeal was dismissed. She is an evil child killer and is as guilty as hell.

On the subject of the Nottingham review. The media are reporting that dozens of senior "men" refused to co-operate and give evidence.

They should be sacked pure and simple.

I believe the government is going to bring forward legislation forcing people to give evidence. About time I am sick of hearing these scandals across the public sector especially but not exclusively and key witnesses simply refusing to co-operate.

You cannot force a person to incriminate themselves but you can force them to appear and refuse to answer under oath. That should then lead to them being sacked.

I'm similar to you. She may be guilty but I don't think the case proved that well enough. Where are the specifics?

I see a laughter emoji but one day they may be on the end of a conviction that is unsafe. Maybe they agrees with the jailing of protesters against immigration as well. Those convictions make letby look innocent!

I don't really mind what other's opinions are. It's not a big deal to me if they are that worried about Letby. I'm more worried about the usual cover ups that get found out years later.

"speed of conviction and dismissal of appeal" , appear more sinister to me, than appearance of guilt.

Others are hiding behind Letby's imprisonment. My concern would be for existing patients and the Judicial system that is far too influenced by politics.

And just for clarification.
Once concerns were raised about Letby, what actually happened ?
where is the CCTV and witness statements of Letby actually doing harm ?

There was a systematic failure to stop a murderer, to gather evidence, and protect young lives. Shockingly bad.
