Left-bias in Cinema, TV , News, and other media

I believe in Moneyball he actually was in real life.

The War of the Worlds was a good shout. Tom Cruise did an admirable job sprinting from one existential crisis to the next, occasionally remembering he had children. Mind you……

Then along came the BBC, who looked at HG Wells’ masterpiece of cosmic horror and thought, ‘needs more feelings.

It was one I was really looking forward to as well until that.

So instead of panic, plague and mass incineration, we got wistful stares across muddy fields and a subplot about love in a time of tentacles, except, bafflingly, the tentacles weren’t even involved. The Martians were basically background extras in their own apocalypse.

And naturally, the BBC managed to make it a fully multicultural romance, set in the 1800s town of Woking, a place about as diverse back then as the men’s over 70’s line up at Wisbech Eagle’s Bowls Club.

Jeff Wayne gave us Richard Burton booming biblical doom over symphonic rock. the BBC gave us emotional growth and progressive values during an alien genocide.

I’d smelt horseshit that smelt less of horseshit.
From some perspectives it’s regrettably not very diverse at the moment but we are working on it. There is a wide range of political opinions, some have been lured by the nonsense “promises” of Reform, others are more pragmatic. We had two who played in wheelchairs, but one passed a few months ago.

Genuinely makes me wonder if some films quite openly have right wing values but are popular. Surely some Clint, Arnie - loads of action movies, westerns, war films. I guess the US army/ navy produced ones were generally poor and not well received. I also then wonder what right wing values would be? Plenty of films have the mother, father and kids don't they? That kind of thing. Again I think you'd have to wonder what right wing values are? I doubt extreme right would be too popular. But you'd have to attend or face questioning. And there'd be a speech for the first twenty minutes where you stand up and clap. Sounds like Butlins cabaret.
During the Cold War...1946 to 1989....the movies Hollywood produced were not overtly very Left. It was only really after the Soviet Union fell. Thats when all the madness started.

the beginning of the End ? Light entertainment TV series 'Friends'

A Nobbly Nazis competition.

Any Mel Gibson film, blame the English.

Braveheart - William Wallace is shown as a peasant, in reality he was a Scottish Lord who had travelled through Europe and spoke French. As for the English oppressors, this was the time of the border wars, both Scots and English invaded each others countries and committed atrocities. There were no black hats versus white hats, all grey.

The least of the bollocks in that"historical" portrayal.

1. Kilts worn in battle, 250 years before tartan was invented let alone worn by the clans. The history guy told Gibson this but he went with kilts. Scots wore yellow robes, like togas, the wealthy dyed with saffron, the peasants dyed with piss. There's no record of painted faces, nor the blue and white if the saltire (much later) nor long hair like savages.

2. Wallace was executed by Longshanks following capture, Wallace never goaded Longshanks on his deathbed

3 Wallace never sired Edward III, Isabella of France was not involved with the English monarch when Longshanks was dealing with Wallace, because SHE WAS 2 YEARS OLD, making Wallace a babyraper at best

Just a few bits from the c*** Gibson

Braveheart.

Catholic Mel Gibson's portrayal of Gay Edward II would not be allowed today. The real Edward chap was actually gay, and died horrifically for it. But the Gibson portrayal of EdII was not very complimentary.

Actually I think they would jump on it

Netflix already claimed Alexander the Great was gay, and focussed on it, despite zero evidence, just going on the fact he was besties with his right hand man general and childhood friend. Let's be honest, we all know that we all have gay affairs with our best mates, it's normal.....

Kingdom of Heaven went all gay too, with Alfred the Great's grandson getting off with a betraying spy for the Viking hordes. Thing is, there is conjecture that he was gay, but do you think he'd have been uber cautious about it or flaunted it as if it were was 2024?

Doctor Who

The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan.

The News-coverage of the Ceuta mass incursion.

'The Art of Spain' by Andrew Graham-dickson BBC....... Christianity as the ultimate hooligan-vandals of history. Islamic Andalucia was a tolerant sensitive place where the three big Abrahamic faiths all inter-married and cooperated. No mention of anybody needing to pay the Jizya-fine.

Kingdom of Heaven was the Jerusalem one. I think you're talking about another film. I'm trying to remember the name.

Kingdom of Heaven. Ridley Scott.

By most accounts a very good film. However, i do not recall even one jihadist decapitation, but there was one Christian chopping off heads (the Priest Michael Sheen).

nope , sinners .

nope was looking good until the studio decided they'd spunked too much $ and went for a kite to portray the Prescence.

sinners - white people bad.

most mainstream films do seem to have a left bias now & unnecessary race placement in incorrect parts, whereas a lot of the 90s films just showed the correct makeup of the time
(black area - black actors / white area - white actors )

kingdom of heaven is a very good entertaining film, but as said before, many of the knights are evil & the other crowd are noble.
If you can look past that, its enjoyable.

Mel Gibsons proposed ' siege of valletta ' film will really stir the s*** & make a great film if well done.

Give us some examples.

1. Oppenheimer. All the intellectuals are Marxists. The McCarthy era fanatics are all baddies.

2. Kingdom of Heaven. All the Christian priests are nasty - at least 3 of them. Half the Crusaders are nasty criminal types. The nice crusaders seem to be atheists. All the Jihadists are noble and honourable. Strong independent women riding around on horses, and riding men other than their husband, with wanton abandon.

3. War of the Worlds. Tom Cruise is a separated single dad. Like Brad Pitt in Moneyball and almost every man in cinema these days. Talking politely to the new bloke his bird has shacked up with.

4. The Irishman......Hoffa is a Trade Unionist and now a hero too.

5. Barbarians.......Herman/Arminius is fighting to free the Germans from the Roman yoke. Not only does he fancy fellas but he now represents a whole cohort of heroic historic figures who are now suddenly getting a rainbow-rewrite of the history-books.

6. Terminator.......Arnold Schwarzenneger helps his wife with the groceries. All the 3 strong heroic figures are female & independent.

7. Alien ..... the more recent the movie, the further to the Left it is.

8. Blade Runner.........Climate change, the baddies are always straight white men, like Wallace.

9. Conclave .........a Vatican with a new 'Trans' Pope

10. Mary Queen of Scots / Vikings Valhalla........... about as credible as Liverpool ever having a chance against us.

11. Rome, HBO....Julius Caesar (Ciaran Hinds)..is certainly a nasty piece of work. Hence the fact that the real Caesar was probably Bi ? Well it seems to have been airbrushed out of the historical record ?

12. House of Guinness.......the Fenian movement seems to be led by a clever, single, childless, fit young bird, who sleeps with the Protestant enemy (to the knowledge of her landlady and hence the whole community). Meanwhile her brother is an uncouth gorilla who mostly does as he's told - except for when being nasty. Abortion all ok in 1865. The likable Arthur Guinness has become firmly gay (and a cuckold), unlike much evidence for the original brewer being either. Christian preachers.....all nasty.

13. Peaky Blinders.....the Far right are evil monsters. The Far left are likable fools & dreamers.

14. History Channels etc. ....constant documentaries about Hitler & the Nazi's. Only a tiny percentage of docu's about Stalin and the Soviet Union.

what others ?

Yes yes and generally yes but Oppenheimer did feature a character who was a Soviet spy.

And according to history most of the Christians in the crusades were c units and that particular middle east king was comparatively benign.

Just finished watching the new Merlin series tonight on amazon prime. Thought it was very good. I had a Google and found out it was done by the daily wire (apparently "right wing") and all the negative reviews of it are that there's no diversity or LGBT representation in it. 🤣

Would recommend 👍🏻
