Lawfare.....not Warfare. But still nasty.....

Potentially bent/biased judges need arresting arguably more than anyone otherwise the whole system collapses. Once charged, leave it to normal justice to prevail. To say otherwise is perverse.

We have a crazy situation in the US where many lower judges have become nothing more than willing political porns or activists to derail a President they don’t agree with. No side is perfect but this trend seems particularly prevalent towards left leaning judges who are all too ready to put the knife into Trump and by doing so have set a dangerous tit for tat precedent and risk moving a civilised country to a banana republic. I’m sure like many middle class couples at dinner parties, these judges feel they have a superior moral prerogative to aggressively spew their sense of right and wrong even it it means straying away from the confines of the law and their job parameters.
Well put. A lot of what is dismissed as Trump support is actually a reaction to bien pensant condescension. It's both childish and meaningless to call anyone a fascist for resenting a constant barrage of smug superiority.

This is bs. All judges are bound by the law. So too are politicians.

If a politician tries to ignore the law do you expect a judge to cooperate with them and ignore them doing so?

The only danger of banana republics comes from politicians who think they are above the law.

We need to support those who stand up to corrupt politicians. Not condemn them for doing so!

Reacting to a personal perception in that way is what is actually childish and meaningless.

Coming out and telling the truth about the appalling behaviour of the administration in the USA, rather than worrying about any personal feelings being hurt, would make a much more valuable contribution to the debate. Writing styles are irrelevant. Damaging the prosperity, safety and health of the world isn’t.

You think the world’s problems are created wholly by the USA then?

Excellent. Couldn't have proved the point any more. Well done.

Of course not! Many are created by unforeseen events. Others by events that are foreseen but not addressed cooperatively.

That said Trump’s recent upending of the rules based trading arrangements, which have worked to everyone’s advantage, is a very serious and completely avoidable disaster.

Was it to the USA s advantage ?

How could I not? Credit where credit is due. Having previously effortlessly scaled the Olympian heights of Mount Condescension to have achieved geostationary orbit so far above it is wholly admirable.
Having very deliberately expressed myself in that way to elicit the responses I got I regret to advise the credit you give me is totally undeserved.

Never mind. I am quite sure you will soon find other things unrelated to a thread to concentrate on.

Not at all since that attitude permeates every utterance it is not only deserved but demanded.

Let me reassure you. I demand nothing of the sort. Whether well deserved will only ever be a matter of opinion. Mine being that some people get so wound up by irrelevant things that they disrupt threads unnecessarily.

I can help here. Imagine if superiority was a horse. Now imagine a really, really big horse. It's like that.

Eagles......please keep on the subject of the thread-title. If the usual suspects continue to bore us with their discussions of their bowel habits, i will be pushing the Mods to start issuing more yellow cards than Mark Clattenberg.

Lawfare. The comments under this youtube clip are very enlightening.

Candace Owens has just released a video showing a conversation she's had with Harvey Weinstein.

You know what, I think I believe them, I think he's been done up like a kipper....and I was quite willing to believe everything we were told about him at the time....but I think I was sold a pup.

Don't get me wrong, I've been highly critical and remain so of the exploitation culture within Hollywood and Weinstein was a powerful part of that. I believe that he mistreated girls looking to get into the industry with the century old executive tactic of bedding or getting sexual favours from girls looking to get ahead.

Monroe was implicitly talking about this back in the fifties and it's always been that way. Hell, anyone who doesn't think Madonna sucked off who she needed to get where she did is completely innocently minded. Lots of girls could have been Madonna and sung those 'written and produced for her' songs.

So I do believe that in this respect the whole 'metoo' movement had a valid cause and that Weinstein was immoral and needed to pay a price. However I think the system that was portrayed to us was promoted as black and white with zero responsibility to girls who used that system.

However, I believe both Owens and Weinstein here......This guy has been in prison for four years and accused of rape....do I really believe he raped women? I'm extremely doubtful....if have to be pretty stupid and frankly he didn't need to because he could just exploit them. I think he's been done up like a kipper because the cultural zeitgeist wanted its boogie man and he was it.

I think a percent of actresses are willing to get ahead by doing whatever is asked of them by these slimeballs and that 'go along to get along' nature is given a complete pass and even more so....they are believed whatever they say. I don't regard that as a fair balanced summary of what happened.

The guy is/was an arsehole but I think they went way over the top on him. I think we were encouraged to accept extreme narratives on what he did and because he's at least guilty of some of the lesser charges that people were willing to believe it.

They need to focus on ridding abuses within the system and stop going nuclear on any one person because it's a cover for doing nothing.

I think it's bogey man.
