Given the frequency of these attacks on political figures , I thought a dedicated thread was required .
Sadly the Australian MP Helen Haines is the latest victim , A very popular independent politician by all accounts .
An Australian MP has been attacked outside her office and is in a critical condition, the country's prime minister Anthony Albanese has said.
Independent MP Helen Haines, 65, was injured after being struck by a white Toyota Land Cruiser SUV near her office in Wangaratta, northeast of Melbourne, at around 3.35pm on Monday.
She was unloading items from the boot of a car in a car park when she was hit, The Australian reported.
