Lacroix

This will upset a few on here, but I rather like Brighton's approach when they have players under long term contracts.
To Manchester Utd who wanted Baleba?
Well ok, but it will cost you £150 million.
They tend to get maximum value for players and more.
Somebody like Van Hecke, who has only has a year on his contract, looks like Brighton will get £50m from Spurs for him.
Brighton also took circa £200 million for Caceido, Cucerella and Pedro from Chelsea.
I wonder what Brighton's reaction would be to a Chelsea offer for Lacroix 2 years into a 5 year contract?

All this assumes that there is truth in the story.
It seems there is clear Chelsea have an interest as they have a habit of leaking these stories.
What is less clear is Palace's response and I hope it would be turned down flat.

But baleba sulked for a season!!

We could have sold Guehi for 50/60 before we did, but we didnt, the manager got his knickers in a twist, so we lost out on 40m, Van Hecke has been sold now, not two weeks before the end of the window, Mateta, Richards and Mitchell have one year left, sell or sign, that's Brighton

I'm not sure of your point.
Is it that if players are likely to sulk then you should sell them?
At that point the lunatics would have truly taken over the asylum.
I meant that Parish does gentleman’s deals or agrees buyout clauses with the players. Yes, we may not get what we think we should but we also don’t get players sulking or one’s like that muppet Cucurella or Caicedo trying their utmost to force through deals and then we end up resenting them for it.

Caceido didn't sulk his way to a move.
In fact at £100 million (rising to £115 million) Brighton were only too happy to take such an excessive fee.
I seem to recall the Cucerella fee of around £65 million as a record for a left back at the time which again they were only too happy to accept.
Brighton are shrewd operators, in particular on player sales.

As I said before, if Lacroix played for Brighton and Chelsea came calling for him 2 years into a 5 year deal I've a fair idea what their reaction would be.
They would price him out of the market as they did with Baleba.
