This has been TB's hobby-horse for 20 years. I think it nearly ran one time but Labour lost the election and the Tories cancelled it.

But it's not a card Steeleye that's why it is so insidious, it's a phone app. They will be able to track you and your comrades when you have you revolutionary meetings.

I have google wallet and it scares me to death.

I suppose a card is now out of date.

I guess there will be more consultations, pilot runs so we will have to wait and see.

There is no reason to have ID cards other than to control law abiding people.
This will have little effect on criminals.

This is just another deliberate step toward a totalitarian state which does what it likes while silencing dissenters.
Look at what has happened under these scoundrels already.

Anything Tony Blair proposes should be rejected at all costs.
 
Digital ID would kill this forum, it would also kill the bbs.

It would chill any dissent just as it does in China.

It would be the end of freedom in the UK and anyone who thinks that giving that kind of power to government is a sensible thing has learnt nothing from history. The state uses data in its own self interest.

Anyone on the left who thinks it'll work for them better think again, as the right would abuse this power just as much as the left.

Steeleye is keen on no rights or freedoms and restrictions on as much as possible.
 
Signatures have stalled at 1,120,000 after rapidly going from zero to 1 million. Just proves that they think they can take advantage of the British culture of manners and tolerance and manipulate it into obedience.

We all know why they want digital ID. Saying it’s to tackle the borders is a lie to try and get it through but it’s also obviously to us a way of saying they’re trying to tackle the boats when they aren’t. Some will just take the lie as the truth, but that number is falling. It needs to fall quicker, but then there’s 4 years so the 44% of people who oppose immigration is going to get much bigger.
