Labour Party politics

Although the Tories didn't when Johnson was referred for investigation.

Starmer's actions are yet another misstep by him. He could have gone in front of that panel and cleared his name. The Public will be questioning why he didn't do that.

Anyway, I thought he's wriggle out of this one, but the local elections are a different story.
The local elections will be an anti government bloodbath with the Neo racists pumping up Epsom style immigration hatred, No Rape ,NO Hotel online fake news. The General Election will be a different can of beans.

The fifty that did not vote could well be on government business, the local elections are always whichever government a focus for malcontents. If Starmer was "dethroned" he could call an election and Labour M.P.s will not vote for civvy street.
I accept that some MPs could be abroad or just sick. However 50 is a tad high and I suspect their absence was just more than a coincidence.

As you say Labour will not call a GE until they have to but this vote was the first shot across the bows from his own MPs. The fact that he had to call back MP's who were campaigning in Scotland and issue a three line whip ordering his MPs to support him is telling.

Apparently he is considering asking Raynor to rejoin the government as her tax affairs are about to be cleared up. She would be a mug to join a sinking ship better to sit it out on the back bencher's until the Titanic has gone down.

She's like the injured player, the longer they are out the better the fans believe they have become.

Labour will do MUCH better at the next G.E. the electorate will not want to go down a dark alley with Reform on their first date, they will want a tried and trusted government, not only is Farage facing allegations of racism he foolishly wants to tinker with State Pensions!

No he doesn't. Plan changed. He knows where the reliable votes come from and it ain't the young.

Hmmm

I think the public will agree that the current government is very trying, not too sure about trusted though. 😀
