Very sad news. Too young. I remember he signed for us after we got promoted. Think he did two seasons here?

i'm convinced he took a bung that game as he made 2 of the most ridiculous mistakes early on.

Also tried to engineer a free transfer for himself when we were in administration.

My sentiments at the time, although with the benefit of advancing age I look back at it and question how I might have acted in his position.

1. No guarantee of income all of a sudden because the club was bust.
2. Not on mega wages at the time.
3. Feudal type employment system where clubs own players (albeit Bosman ruling came in just before he joined us).

Maybe the hate was deserved because of his actions. Maybe he was just a bloke not on astronomical wages worried about his pay drying up overnight and wondering what he could do about it.

Either way, sad news.

When he came back to Selhurst, I started “stand up if you hate Miller” the whole ground was standing singing it 20 seconds later. My mate was talking about it the other day.

Sad that he died though.

Well we may have disliked him and been angry at the time, but it was part of the passion of football and I'm sorry to hear this sad news. Rest In Peace fella, 57 is way way too young.

I was even more angry when he came to Selhurst with Barnsley soonafterwards and proceeded to have an unbelievable game. We BATTERED them, he made stop after stop, and I can't recall exactly but I think they won 1-0, either way we didn't win and it was his motm performance.
