Jpm

Isn't Kamada,s wage artificially high on the basis he arrived on a free transfer ?

Not aimed at you DE but just in general; do the other players consider transfer fees paid when comparing their wages? Football money is all silly but if we pay JPM another £40,000 a week it's £6 m in 3 years. Can we replace him with whatever his transfer fee brings in + £6 m?
It's always possible we could find someone as good or better for an affordable fee but what wages will he want and if he is a success how long can we keep him?
Mateta is a known entity and can be effective for Palace so I think we should pay what he wants within reason.

Reportedly he wants another £40,000 a week to stay. I think we should pay it. Any replacement is likely to want the same money if we can even find one.

I know he’s had a good year, but I hate that when players start demanding more money, I know it must be a bit frustrating if some of your team mates are on more, but a player demanding more money shows what their priorities are

He needs to get real .
He is asking more money a week hat lots of people earn in a year , just for kicking a ball full of air around .
If does not like his wages then he can leave .

Unfortunately this is what football has become - in the PL anyway. The actual cash involved is almost incidental to the Top Trumps element of their wages and agents will be pushing for as much as they can get to increase their share and prove their value to other potential clients.

That’s true, it’s the nature of the beast that’s been created.
I totally get why Simon Jordan used to hate agents as well, they’re usually the driving force behind any players apparent greed

The club set the marker by giving Olise and Eze bumper pay deals to stay. Given how important he has become I hope the club don't mess about unless his demands are unreasonable. As insane as it sounds, in the current pay structure at the club 90k doesn't sound unreasonable, unlike Andersen supposedly asking for a 4-year deal on 150k per week (I hear the sound of urine being decantated).

With the amount Palace have spent on previous forwards who have proven to be ineffective in scoring(your Bentekes and Edouard, Sorloth in premier league, with us at least.. etc.), surely it'd be best that Palace pay the money for somebody we know can score and also has his work rate.
Nketiah might not amount to much and I don't think he can be relied on yet, to score goals. Mateta, I'm confident that he can score goals if given the opportunity in any game.

We're getting to the stage where football money is as unrelated to ordinary life as distances in space.

At £50,000 a week he is on less than many of the other players, time to pay him the extra £40,000 a week.We could land up with a misfiring dud.

When JPM joined us he always said he saw it as a stepping stone to a top six club.
If that time has come, I feel it is thoroughly deserved and we should work with him to allow it if that is on and its serious.
He must be worth £50m and we have a couple of youngsters in the U21s who are super fast front men.
Umola and Mustapha I think.
The trick is to be positive. If it happens then good luck to him. If he stays well then that's good too.
Its like a no lose situation if we get it right.
There is another lad in our juniors, Grehan I think, who is also impressive, and of course Derry is making strides. I am expecting they should all be knocking on the door soon enough. If Hansi Flick (Barcelona coach) was at the Palace Im sure they would be getting tested.

Our best Academy players are out on loan playing regular men's football. IMO Rak-Sakyi is miles ahead of any of the current lads playing in the Academy as is David Ozoh. Having said that, needs probably must and Devenny and perhaps other youngsters training with the first team may well get some minutes in the coming month or so. Then we'll see what level they're currently at.
