Liverpool star Diogo Jota dies in car accident, aged 28

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has died following a car crash in Spain at the age of 28, Portuguese media have reported.

The most appalling news. I've always humbly regarded him as a truly special attacking talent who on his day could easily turn a game around given his ferocious pace, creative play and striking finesse. What is far more tragic though is that he only married 10 days ago whilst being father to three children. In short, he had the world at his feet and everything to look forward to.

The charity shield game will be a chance to offer support and shared grief with the Liverpool fans. In light of this tragedy, I hope that game can somehow offer a tribute or celebration of his short but incredible life. Maybe it comes too soon?
