If we really have no other option than Strand-Larsen then I'd go down the toxic option of refusing Mateta the move and sticking with him. Yes he might have wanted the move but he's desperate to go to the World Cup. So he has to start performing for us, whether he's happy about it or not I don't really care. Then he can leave in the summer and we can find a more suitable replacement, who will probably be pretty average but not cost 50m.

As I've said in another post, I'd much rather invest more in other areas of the pitch as if you provide quality chances then you can make do with a half decent striker i.e Calvert-Lewin, Welbeck, Wissa (Brentford days). A club our size should not spend 50m on one player, it's a disaster waiting to happen.

Yet he has the best supporters in the land we rocked Wembley 3 times & how could not say - “ I need this club to progress “ but alas

The two positions we really need to bring in players for are centre forward and centre back so I fully expect us to loan a keeper instead
 
It may be a game of brinkmanship between Parish and Woves to see who blinks first on Larsen’s price. I even wonder if Leeds ‘offer’ of 40m is genuine or a collusion between two teams to up the price to try to fleece another. It all goes on…

Hang tough Parish and walk away if you have to. Sod em.

Mateta is almost out the door and has been poor for half a season now. We do need to fill the gap, we honestly already needed backup for him in the first place.

Mateta get’s tonnes of service and wastes it. We are fantastic at creating chances, awful at converting them.

Last season Larsen was getting good service and scored 14. This season he isn’t getting that service because Wolves already got rid of their creative players and are terrible this season.

Larsen with the service we give Mateta, should be a top scorer. If we end up putting 10m extra up after the Mateta money it’s not a terrible deal, ultimately it’s one that needs to be done.

Hopefully a centre-back comes in as well and we can call it a day, right on the deadline as per usual.
 
There is a danger that going forward Parish may be considered untrustworthy. He stopped the Guehi deal at the last moment at the last transfer window, and it looks like he is stopping Milan getting Mateta and leaving Larsen not knowing where he will be playing.
Of course, we are only seeing what the press tells us and everything may be fine behind the scenes with both players ending up where they want to be. But if not, I can see Parish being ostracised by other clubs, refusing to sell or buy unless Parish commits early in the window.
