Jørgen Strand Larsen

So we are signing another striker who doesn't score? £50 million?

I'm not sure what is going on at the club right now, but I don't like it.
Well, we are buying strikers from the PL clubs who don't want them for record prices and putting them on salaries higher than long-serving players Nketiah has never scored more than 5 league goals in a season; Johnson was on the bench and is a one-trick pony yet to show us his trick; and Larsen after a breakout season, on loan, already earns about 100,000 a wekk and is not coming here for a drop in pay. A reminder that he has the grand total of one goal and one assist this campaign. He turns 26 in a week's time so this is probably as good as he will get and will have little sell-on value when he has a year to run on his contract even if he is reasonably good He also has no physical presence so we can say goodbye to watching a big CF holding up the ball and bringing Munoz into play
If all Matt Hobbs can come up with is someone he has previously purchased, we are really in the s***. We would have done much better getting Hwang for a song in the summer
We are turning into West Ham without the benefit of 62,000 attendances

That could well be a source of future income.

I think we are missing the golden days of Dougie picking up players from the Championship and Turkish mid table and transforming them into premier league stars.

Now we are just like everyone else.
The club can't really win - we we're always criticized for being a bargain basement club who doesn't spend money improving the squad now. Then we sell those bargain basement players and we are called a "feeder" club for the big 6. We spend some money on the here and now, which has been the biggest critique aimed at the club and we are just like everyone else.

We've bought 2 clubs top scorers from last season in this window, on top of buying a Spanish international starter in the summer. We have youth within the club that is promising for the future already, we needed to invest in the squad depth for now. Unfortunately, it's a window too late but I feel the strategy has actually been perfect.

His high Price tag is probably more down to the remaining time left on his contract tbh. it runs til 2030 with an option for another 12 months. Long contracts always inflate transfer prices, and are never taken into account.

but still £50M for this fella, 'kin hell
I have just received a text from someone in the media who commented that after a solitary goal this season the deal quoted is DOUBLE what Wolves paid for him in the summer.
I have not yet provided a response.

Really don't know what to think about this one. Losing a want away player and replacing him with a younger, slightly more mobile version does make sense to me, but reading the Wolves fans comments about him sounds eerily like reading the Spurs fans comments about Johnson. Both players are leaving basket-case clubs though, so do we give Hobbs the benefit of the doubt or wonder if he's getting a backhander to punt him on to us. Hobbs own contract situation with us seems a bit murky doesn't it.

All I know for sure is this season is bloody weird even by our standards. Wish we could throw money at Freedman to come back. At least he had a very good success to dud ratio.

I don't think the critique is necessarily of spending big (although I personally think it's a mistake for the club to go away from ours main transfer policy) - the critical responses are surely aimed at huge fees being spent on mediocre players who crucially we have a very small chance of ever making a profit on (mainly because no one else is going to be stupid enough to pay such ridiculous fees as us).

Then the funds will have been used up, the squad won't have any more depth and a new manager in the summer will not have any funds to use on players they want.

This is insane, there's a whole world of CF's out there and we are looking a failure at a failing club.

Are we looking in the right place at £50mil there must be a better prospect out there somewhere in Europe, Hobbs might be the issue here.

Well, I read a bit somewhere that Leeds fans reacted with glee to the report that Palace had bid 50 million quid for him. And that if Palace get him, Leeds would have dodged a bullet. I tend to agree with the Leeds fans.

Come the end of the season Wolves will be desperate to get rid he'll be half the money then.

Like, I've already said, he's a double agent on a short contract. He'll return to Wolves in the Summer and start rebuilding in the Championship and £50m will buy a few decent players for that league.

Here is a ridiculous quote, if he does sign shall we give him a chance or just through him under the bus straight away.

Yes, I'm concerned that Johnson and Larsen have enjoyed 'purple patches', when they've scored well, but they haven't shown good form recently. It's not unusual for players to show great form, but can't maintain or ever repeat it. Mateta perhaps the same too. Not offering much when he first arrived and I hold my hands up that I wouldn't have been bothered if he'd been moved on then. Of course, a fantastic period followed, goals, entertainment, fun, but he's been poor for some time now, perhaps with some excuse that he's carrying an injury. I said elsewhere that bar a couple of games, I thought the team was playing quite well, but it's bloody obvious the side is not scoring enough in spite of creating chances and it's getting embarrassing and worrying. Whatever occurs, I just hope for strikers or anyone who 'can hit a barn door from 10 yards'!

I will support every player who puts on the shirt but I can't get excited about this one.

There must be any other striker with a decent goal return available for less than £50m.

Even if we sold Mateta I'd rather we gave Uche a go up top than take this massive gamble
