Jørgen Strand Larsen

They will with a couple of add ons. He's worth no more than 25 mil. Anything above - move on. He's simply not that good. But nor was Mateta, nor is he right now, so there is hope.
Last season Wolves signed him on Loan, the loan fee being £2.5 Mill, with a possible permanent transfer for £23 Mill which Wolves paid for his services in the summer.

The fee discussed is in the order of £40M

I can guess your thoughts on that...
Exactly, no where near that. That's starting high and being knocked down price. Half it and knock some off of that or just don't even engage. That's ridiculous. The fans and the club would hire him a few private jets to get here at that price. They would offer him an honour guard and four testimonials just to get rid. If they don't rate him and he's at such a s*** club, I'm not buying that for one moment.

I suspect/hope he is just being used as leverage on the Cherif deal.
Of all we're linked with, Abraham is the best fit. Cherki is not ready and Strand-Larsen isn't that good. I would definitely sell Mateta for anything 30+ mil. Which, again, makes 40 for Strand-Larsen look like a joke. I wouldn't be against Cherki for the future however. But we still have Glasner so he wouldn't play anyway. In a week or two we'll see. I can't imagine Glasner lasting much longer, but I thought he would already be gone. So did many others.

Definitely Cherif?

Didn't Cherki tell us to do one and then went to Man City?

But yes, Cherif appears one for the future. We still have Nketiah and Johnson.

he was signed for £23m after a reasonably successful loan. Newcastle offered over double that in the summer and they turned it down so they are never going to accept £20m even with add ons if they get relegated.

They are hoping for £40m so we should move on.

If we were ever interested.

Think he could be a good replacement. He had a good first season at Wolves, hasn’t been at it this season but he’s hardly the only one. He’s got a good height on him, he would get a lot of service with us, especially with Mũnoz due back, so could be back to his best.

That’s the glass half full look, but I feel it could work.

Agreed. He has some of the qualities Mateta seemed to have before he started scoring (so pre Glasner). If the manager was staying I'd be more optimistic, but maybe the new incumbent would be able to do a decent job with someone like him. Hard to say with so many variables.
