I wonder if perhaps...

Palace phoned wolves to establish the asking price for Larsen, said we'll get back to you, then phoned villa and established the price for Guessand. Perhaps they also enquired about a couple of other players at other clubs but didn't get the same encouragement.

Meanwhile, either wolves or the players agent have leaked the news that palace are buying Larsen to the press in the hope of flushing out a higher paying or higher ranked interested club.

Fast forward to palace today, who haven't made a formal bid for Larsen as they prefer Guessand, or don't know what's happening with Mateta yet....
 
Yes. There’s no way the price should be influenced for what we get for Mateta who was on fire last season and played for France.

The more I think about it, the more I think we should walk away from the Larsen deal. It’s starting to smell like we’re desperate suckers

I reckon 40m is very toppy. You start to wonder if even that price was created by a desperate moment of madness by Leeds and we’ve been sucked into that looney bin.

I’ve no idea but this hypothesis sounds very possible.

I think they realised they don’t need to spend any of the JP money when you have a replacement on loan.

Hearing that we have been looking at Josh Sargent but he seems to be mucking around currently. And someone has mentioned Agyemang or whatever he's called already. We've been looking at him. I wouldn't mind Sargent and the other guy looks to have potential.
