Last night I watched an old Steptoe and Son episode from the early sixties. Harold wants to become a Labour candidate but the party reject him as he is too working class and they want a more middle class candidate.

So even back then Galton and Simpson could read the signs.

It’s quite enjoyable when you talk to a Labour voter who realises he isn’t Labour anymore.
