Joel Ward

Rubbish. An owner is not going to keep any player if he is not up to it. Glasner would have been consulted on whether to release him last summer. He works with all of them on the training ground. He knows Ward's fitness levels, his current capabilities as well as his professionalism. Thats the reason he was kept on as back up. And you can bet if he is needed he will put in a shift like he always does.

Your really don't have a clue how clubs are run.

Coaches not managers any more have very little input.

This has been confirmed by many ex Palace managers.

Yeah I’m not sure we’re fully there yet, a lot of top clubs yes, players are bought and the ‘manager’ is just a coach and has very little say in it, but for example would we have signed Kamada if former Frankfurt manager Glasner wasn’t our gaffer? I somehow doubt it, so our managers clearly are still having input

I am sure JW will get a testimonial from CPFC at the end of his contract at Palace.
He may well get some minutes on the field against Doncaster next month in the FA Cup. Fantastic servant of the club and a great role model.

Historically testimonials were done for tax reasons. Because it was a ‘gift’ from the club to the player it escaped income tax so was a nice payday for the player at the end of their career. These days it’s less relevant because tax rules have been tightened and players earn so much money they don’t need the tax free bump at the end of their careers

Modern Testimonials are far less about giving players a 'tax free bump' as you call it. As you've pointed out their well paid these days compared with yesteryear.
But it's much more about an opportunity for the fans to come together and have an opportunity to celebrate with the player for the time spent with the club. Some players even choose to make these charity events.

The word legend gets banded around too much but he is truly that for us. An important part of getting and keeping us up and always available and reliable during the most successful period in our history. Similar ilk to Speroni for me.

We all know that he's no longer good enough, or young enough, for what we want to achieve but I do hope we see him again this season at some point. Though it is probably time for him to move on in the summer.

That's assuming he wants to keep playing, however. He'd be very useful for a promoted or championship club but when he calls it a day, I'm sure the club will find a coaching or academy role for him if he wants it.

I'd suggest it is yourself that is just speculating. Unless of course you have some facts or at least evidence to back that up? Please tell me a manager (one that doesn't have a grudge) that has said a player was sold or released against his wishes.
Of course Parish isn't going to release Ward if 1. We have limited alternative back up and 2. the manager wants to keep him and 3. His wages are nowhere near the highest earners and its affordable to do so.
