Jadon Sancho

If we didn't have Johnson I'd be inclined to take the expensive risk. But we do...so I don't think we can afford the risk of two expensive flops!
Indeed, two very similar players who don’t seem to want to work for the team, although sancho does seem to have a bit more talent when he feels the need to use it, basically when he’s at Dortmund

To be fair I wouldn't say that Johnson doesn't want to work for the team, he puts the effort in, contributes defensively etc and seems to have a good attitude but he just hasn't had much impact going forward... yet.

I think he looks lazy at times, he doesn’t seem to want to put the effort in to make something happen, but we all see things differently, hopefully things will change with the new gaffer next season, a couple of early goals and he might look a different player

I'm not convinced by this.

I have decided, with no supporting evidence, that he has extremely low self confidence. Or at least that's how he comes across to me, as if he's terrified whilst out there.

Ian Rush was constantly labelled lazy in the day.
It's all about opinions, but being an old chap I had the privilege of watching Rush live on many occasions .
Lazy?
He was one of the hardest working forwards I ever witnessed.
Constantly, to use the modern term, pressing from the front with intense sprints to shut down opposing defenders
He never gave them any respite and still had the energy and drive to run the channels and achieve his incredible goal record.

I heard the 'lazy' accusation against poachers like Greaves, McDonald and McDougal, but never Rush.

Classic quote when he was in Turin, but seems to have been made up by Kenny Dalglish.

Sancho flatters to deceive.
He has good control of the ball and can dribble with both feet, but he frequently disappears from games or has little influence over proceedings.
Avoid.
One of the luckiest players ever, he seems to get taken by big clubs Man Utd, Chelsea, Dortmund and Villa all at ridiculous wages £200k a week, but just isn't very good.
Review
Jadon Sancho’s core problems were a culmination of tactical misfits, mental health struggles, discipline issues (e.g., poor timekeeping), and a lack of defensive or attacking dynamism. This ultimately led to a disappointing spell at Manchester United

He won't be turning up at Selhurst.

He's basically a one-trick pony - a fast winger, and one who knows how to get on the end of a cross from the other wing. He struggled to adapt to being an old-fashioned inside forward under Glasner. Whether or not Sage will have better luck with him remains to be seen given Sage's preference for the same system as Glasner but with a more flexible attitude depending on the opponent.

That's twice what Scott McTominay is on

Wow he hardly touched the ball but did put it away even a quarter chance got buried. 😉

Lens top scorer in their great season was Odsonne Edouard. If Sage can get a reaction from him what could he get from Johnson and indeed Sancho? Hope springs eternal.
Edouard was never a bad finisher. Just not really a good team player. I've no idea if that's changed. He has always been technically gifted when you watch him. Not going to bust a gut or be a hold up or target man however. He can dribble so not quite a poacher.
We seem to need a holding up no 9. I reckon Strand Larsen can grow into it. He seems relatively physical and hard working.
Obviously, Mateta is our big unit.

Possibly, I know some players do have that languid look about them and it looks bad if they’re not performing, some used to say that about Benteke, but for me he was the laziest bar steward of them all 🤣
