Well it looks like we can say goodbye to free to view ITVX and other ITV outlets. Sky buying it for £1.6b to rival other streaming channels, so it seems obvious that it will end up as pay to view like Netflix and Amazon Prime.

The government wants to end Freeview by 2030 so they can sell the frequencies off to mobile phone companies.

The BBC / ITV / C4 etc all want rid of Freeview as they have to pay to maintain it. The BBC especially will love to get rid so they can push for a broadband tax to replace the licence. If the only TV that is available comes via broadband .....

Of course the elderly will need to pay for broadband if they even know what that is.
