I'm not driven by ego and fear, the driver has been indignation at you mocking the death of my uncle: killed as a child by a V1 drone in WW2, as you lectured me at length that I had no clue what fascism is/was/ever will be.

My appalling first-hand experience is not some purple heart medal I wear every day expecting others to wear sackcloth and ashes and gnash their teeth in grief BUT we all seem to be fans here, arguing for better civility which breaks down if you are going to take the gloves off and punch below the belt.

Anyway thanks Dr Freud, for your analysis. I expect to be arguing patriotism with you again soon and no doubt before you are expected to produce your P60 certificate here. Patriot.

I'd presume it's part of his identity or close to his heart/family etc. Is it not exactly the same as all Muslims being on the side of Palestine? I have no idea, it's none of my business, but I'd presume he's Jewish. As such, he felt attacked - it is a viewpoint that is somewhat understandable. Whether you agree with it or not.

It's the same as all of the Palestinians now being radicalised because their relations were killed. And plenty of people will not be condemning that. Rather ironically, that too will be Israel's fault. I'm not sure Israel can win in any public relations battle. It's simply hugely outnumbered.

Consider being backed into a corner. Whoever you are you might lash out.

What exactly was your appalling first hand experience?

And, a V1 was not a drone. My grand mother described to me the dread and fear when you heard one and then the engine stopped.

I doubt very much that anyone on here has been personally affected by events in Israel/Gaza in any way, although I am open to hearing otherwise. No one has made that claim so far, so I am not accepting that the British people on here can justifiably claim to have been radicalised towards violence by the events there. Certainly, there is no comparison to Palestinians being radicalised after seeing their relatives being killed.

As for the claim that all Muslims are on the side of Palestine. Well, plenty of Arab/Muslim states are quite close to Israel, including Morocco.
Besides, that phrase 'on the side of Palestine' covers a lot of bases. I would say that opposing genocide and wishing to help the suffering and displaced children of Gaza is just basic human decency.
Revelling in the suffering of others is the complete opposite of that.

My accountant handles tax matters , as I understand it, a P60 is issued to people who are employees in the UK on PAYE

I could do just the same in return but it's really not going to convince anyone to change is it? I was merely trying to point out that there are alternative reasons for similar outcomes. Yet, entrenched people only see their own viewpoint don't they. You think Morrocan Muslims support Israel? You might find a few Muslims in the world that do. In comparison to hundreds of millions of others.
I also can quite categorically state that Mr Barber was posting about terrorists and not children. That was pretty clear wasn't it? Yet, it's always the children. Everything becomes the ultimate in depravity, seeking the moral high ground. A lot are simply believing the hype,quite frankly. I hope, genuinely,that it makes them feel better somehow.
The same arguments can be made about Israeli babies that were murdered: all of these conflicts have multiple sides and atrocities. That people can't handle any other viewpoints, arguments, religions, beliefs - it's really not my issue. Israel and Palestine have never been able to accept each other on multiple levels. That is now being transposed onto all of us? I'm not willing to be part of their hate stuff.
Clearly highlighted in the Sheeran stuff at the moment. Only one way is correct, apparently. The other is somehow evil in multiple ways.
I'd take a little guess that some people don't react well to that either.
I wonder, I wonder, what is the ultimate cancel culture? Ultimately, that might mean more to us all.
