Israel v Hamas

Polls are appearing in the US suggesting that, for the first time. the american citizen is now more sympathetic to Palestine than Israel.

That is really something of an earthquake tbh.

Netanyahu says the 8th front is the most important, that of US public opinion.

😎

No such place a Palestine. Can you point to this nation on a map? And I mean a map of planet Earth, not Narnia, Mordor or Westeros.

I always have been. I still adhere to the underlying principles even if the party seems to have deserted them because of their catastrophic error over Brexit.

We are pretty thin on the ground these days, at least publicly, but believe the truth about my fellow citizens is that most remain loyal to the fundamental character of the British. We are fair minded, willing to compromise and help others.

Belies your claim when Labour won the election that the Tories should stay centralist or become centralist, can't remember how you viewed the 'Sunak' Tory version of the party. My appraisal of you is that you're more akin to a Liberal Democrat, but one who just wants to protect their personal standard of living.

However, there is a type of Tory who you seem a left wing version of and that's the much disliked Michael Heseltine. He probably comes the closest to it.

As for what you consider British, considering you were on here saying white people don't exist I'll take your views on identity as lacking nuance.

The British didn't 'fair minded and willing to compromise and help others' into the largest land empire on this planet's history. What you describe is some half truth that liberals have.....it's true up to a point and reality certainly doesn't match your worldview.

It's interesting that pro Israel marches have both the Israel and British flags - yet the pro Palestine marches don't fly British flags alongside the Palestine one.

It's because they hate Britain, particularly colonialism, which is ironic considering that without colonialism they wouldn't be wealthy enough to sponge enough off the state to take the day off for a march about a foriegn problem, or be here in the first place from the other side of the planet.

Jews are under threat in Britain.

That's the fault of the mainstream parties and especially the Treasury.

People use to believe the Tories were anti turning this country into a foreign outpost but they destroyed that with what they did in power. We all know what Labour are and the left generally.....but what the Tories did was a stab in the back.

Importing, what is genuinely anti semitism is something they knew would happen with third world immigration and instead they covered up that reality with their lefty/social liberalism ideals.

Jews should be angry with them.

Unfortunately many Jews still vote left and a lot of money goes into what has turned out to be worse for them.

The Tories should return to the centre. There’s no chance of them returning to power by trying to become “Reform light”. It’s a ticket to oblivion.

I want to preserve my standard of living? I want everyone’s to improve and not just here. Here the first task is to stop it declining and I am on record as saying I think people like me need to pay higher taxes. Which seems to counter your belief!

That you dislike Heseltine is no surprise, but to suggest he is much disliked is ridiculous. He was greatly admired in his day and remains a hero to me. I lived within walking distance of his home for several years and had the opportunity to chat with him. He loved his garden and was an extremely impressive man who genuinely loved his country. The best PM we never had and in a different league to any of today’s offerings.

White people don’t exist, anymore than black or brown people do. There is nothing inherent in an individual’s skin colour that imparts them with any characteristic. People exist. They can be wise, kind, stupid, cruel, well intentioned or evil. Whatever their skin colour might be. We need to stop categorising people by entirely arbitrary markers and only classify them by meaningful ones.

The British evolved and learned that cooperation and compromise pays dividends when you are actually a small fish in a sea full of sharks. Some unfortunately didn’t and remain trapped by the attitudes of the past.

I think there are more uncomfortable truths going to come out, amongst the tsunami of propaganda, by all sides. The ceasefire has all the hallmarks of a hastily contrived fvck-up , gradually unfolding.
Hamas fighters re-entering Gaza to stop tribal conflicts, Palestinians being allowed access to areas with unsafe buildings, unexploded ordnance. There's still potential for many more deaths, whether by military action, or giving Palestinians access to fundamentally hazardous areas, or lack of medical supplies and food.
It's a bit like the chaos of the American departure from Afghanistan.

Repeating the same boomer near hippy waffle that has seen this country decline in most social metrics isn't going to work Corny me old progressive.

You might be living a nice lifestyle but your political era with its disastrous consequences is over and no amount of bleating on here changes that.

It's almost amusing though that your social beliefs are as 'progressive' as they are though because it's going to be the left who come looking for your bank account and standard of living much more than Reform will.

Not that I'd even want you voting for a right wing party......I want you to keep voting left and standing up for social liberalism as it's representatives lower your standard of living in the country.

Not out of personal animus towards you but purely on a living by your principles basis.

Besides you can afford it apparently.

To me, it's all just a stop along the way to Israel taking Gaza.

Stopping now makes no logical sense, so to my mind there must be a rejigged plan.

Maybe they have just lengthened the time for it.

You write this bollox like you’re an 18 year old student trying to impress his lecturer. Go near a Somalian take away in Streatham and you’ll understand what I’m talking about. But you’re so far removed from reality you have no clue whatsoever.

Oh yeah, a Somalian take away. Why anyone would eat it is beyond me. And by the way, I like Caribbean food. But African food? Rank.

Here you are, proof that it's not about peace, it's about hating the Jew.

They are STILL protesting

The guy in the middle (Peter Tatchell) being interviewed is the only sensible one amongst them. If they knew what he was saying most of that lot would call him a fascist.

I haven't been watching the news much recently. Do we know where these Hamas fighters are re-entering Gaza from? I had assumed they were mostly already there.

Wasn't there some on here, not so long ago suggesting Hamas was pretty much a spent force? Using this as an excuse to push the 'genocide' bullshit?

7000 seems quite a considerable number of fighters to me!

That's about Millwall's attendance isn't it.

7000 thousand fighters....I'd back them against that bunch though.

What a surprise! No reasoning. Just childish insults! And suggestions I am 18!

By the way you are outnumbered. At least 1.5 billion people like African food. So it cannot be rank.
