NATO is apparently all about defending against Russia. According to some, they are no threat either.
Apparently, our politicians thought so, which is why we haven't spent enough on defence.

That didn't stop Britain and France joining in with the US previously buy there you go.

Trump is right about NATO, and he is right about Iran. If the cost of stuff gets higher, that is hardly the end of the world. Letting Iran get nukes just might be.

Yet it's apparently ok for them to have thousands, a country in existence for less than 300 years and in war against someone or other for almost all of its existence, whilst Persia, a civilisation known as the most beautiful peaceful on earth for thousands of years, cannot?

Even to your flawed prejudiced brain does that not seem a little bit hypocritical? Just like the EU nazi war against Russia it basically comes down to simple bullying based on greed and envy for oil and gas. If you want to look at an actual defensive alliance Russia and China or any of the other BRIICS countries can simply supply them with nuclear weapons if they want them anyway if Trump or Israel persist with their aggression towards Iran. And thats why the US or unhinged Israel will never win ultimately through power politics and bombs.

But Israel want to 'salt the earth' like Rome did to Cathage, while they think they have the opportunity.

I think it's a bad policy, but old Netty sees it as his legacy and Trump.....once he made the decision to go in.....is trapped within the sunken cost of what he's done.

We can only hope that people like us are wrong and they are right.....in terms of how it effects the west.

But the only winners are Israel......If the US leave the regime in place now they are stuck with a great amount of trouble.....Trump thought he could get away with this war without troops on the ground but I'm not seeing how at the moment.

If he leaves without regime change the US will lose a lot of influence in the region....and probably their bases.

For the life of me I can only think his announcements on Nato are only for those GOP supporters who don't really pay much attention to foreign policy.....an attempt to blame the negatives of this war on America's allies (allies they don't consult with).

Personally I think the US leaving Nato would actually force Europe to be realistic and sensible regarding Russia......and then our energy bills won't be the highest in Europe.

There would have to be a more socially conservative attitude towards nation and masculinity due to the need to have an effective fighting force.....All the woke crap and DEI stuff would have to go......Because at the moment they can't even staff the air-carriers they have.

Because the left's dominance of education and media has produced generations who are nihilistic and don't care about the country enough to defend it...the narratives they present about our hertiage and history are meant to demonize our ancestors and present history through a liberal worldview that abhors the 'John Bull' of the past......and the way the boomers on down have treated the youth has also caused a lot to lose faith and thus not invest any skin in the game.....When you know you're never get on the housing ladder or a good paying job then what's the incentive?

Quite interested to see exactly how Trump intends to punish the Iran-friendly vessels and even those that pay the reparation tolls to Iran. Some of those ships are destined for China. Surely he isn't mad enough to try to quarantine them as some sort of bargaining chip? Mind you the whole thing has been about piracy from the start I guess. Ryanair have indicated they will be cancelling flights if the blockade goes on for much longer, claiming certain routes have become unprofitable even after 30 days of closure. If it remains closed/restricted to western traffic for 60/90 days I'd imagine lots more will get cancelled. Knowing Ryanair they'd claim it was due to an actual of war too so no refunds.
