The old carpet wasn’t dreadful. It had been damaged by carelessness of the previous tenant but was still serviceable. I hadn’t changed it between tenancies because the incomer wanted immediate accommodation but then announced they might have to move on. They have now decided to stay so I have.

reading the comments, it could be envy of what they would call "normies". The idea of having tennants.

Hilarious is true but it’s also strangely rewarding. They very obviously get wound up when faced with facts they are uncomfortable with. Not that they have the bottle to admit it. Insults being the last refuge of cowards. They are intellectually bankrupt and desperate to protect their ego.

They have absolutely no idea whatsoever about me. They seem to think I am a parasite landlord, profiteering on the needy and are always banging on about non existent gas boilers!

I was at one of my properties today to remove some old carpet, and take it to the dump. It has been replaced with new as it was damaged. I have also fitted a PIV unit to ensure winter ventilation. My tenant shook my hand and thanked me.

Not all landlords are parasites....

I must admit, I do enjoy your 'I'm a good person' stories.

I used to hate landlords until I became one and I now I have a new perspective of them.

My tax was 47.5 percent on any profit I made which wasn't much 😑.

I guess I shouldn't complain, the mortgage on it is being paid at least and once it's paid off I should have some income when I retire.

I have never been inside a refugee centre. Have you? I can only relate what my place is like. Which isn’t like Claridges, which I have been inside having lunched there several times, but is perfectly clean, tidy and responsibly cared for.

My question to the pro immigration lot here is if/when 1000+ immigrant males are placed beside your home what would your response be? And would you be happy to take any into your home?

It would be difficult to actually insult the little hard right swinging group here. A group that, in my opinion, excludes you. You have opinions I might disagree with but also have genuine knowledge and experience that I respect.

That group are indeed intellectually bankrupt and demonstrate it regularly by the paucity of their reasoning. Which is generally no more than just repeating memes picked up from whatever dark corners of the internet they live in.

Dan’s comment isn’t an insult. It’s speculation.

As it’s impossible simply to divide people by a pro or anti immigration label you will not get any answers that can address your question. It is a perfect example of being intellectually bankrupt.

Everyone wants to find an answer to illegal, and dangerous, migration. Many realise that whilst it exists we have no choice other than to handle it. That in turn involves making choices between options all of which will always displease some.

From memory, which could be faulty, the Bicester site is well away from the town and self contained. If true it could provide secure and supervised accommodation.

But that’s the problem it is not secure. These camps should be used but the detainees should not be allowed to wander off, unsupervised. That, I believe, is the main issue
