As somebody who was appalled by the George Floyd case when it came out, this is equally as shocking, a total disregard for somebody who's life had just begun bleeding out on the ground. It was extremely obvious judging by that bodycam footage that something was very wrong. Credit to Rupert Lowe and Nigel Farage for being some of the only politicians speaking out about this case. If he had been of a different colour or religion I highly suspect this case would be getting far more attention than it has. I fecking hate this country I live in at the moment. I can only imagine how his family feel.
 
The poor lad's last moments is f***ing horrific, those police officers need to be held accountable.

Anyone involved in EDI within the Police force needs to be sacked and held accountable as well. They created the Police bias and belief systems that saw Nowak having his arms held behind his back as he cried out in distress.

His last moments were in pain and distress.

These fuckwits read him his rights as he goes unconscious, that c*** holding his arm back.

Don't trust you lads around these people, they aren't our Police.

The Police releasing statements looking to put the best spin on how they behaved. Not the full facts of what they did, just the best way to spin it.

As the facts are becoming known it’s receiving attention. It was just the lead story on Newsnight where the similarity to the Floyd case was made.

No suggestions there though that it would receive greater attention if he had a different ethnicity. For good reason. It’s untrue.
 
I have watched the extracts from the body cam videos, the statement by the family and the discussion on Newsnight, which included an interview with the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner.

The footage is obviously distressing. What does it tell us we didn’t already know? We knew the Police made a mistake. We didn’t know the extent of the lying and cover up that led to that mistake. The officers clearly assumed that Nowak was the criminal and was feigning injury. They couldn’t see an injury, ignored his statements, handcuffed and arrested him, before realising he was seriously injured.

The IPC will investigate and determine whether their mistake was reasonable in the circumstances, or whether it wasn’t. If it wasn’t then disciplinary actions will follow.

In the meantime there isn’t a shred of evidence that the police would have reacted any differently if the ethnicity of those involved was reversed. This being the point I have been trying to make.

Not that this wasn’t awful, or that the police didn’t get it wrong.

I don’t know why it hasn’t yet been released. Perhaps for legal reasons. Perhaps it will now be, as the trial has finished. Maybe not if there is an appeal, which seems unlikely.
