Immigration

A great deal.

If we stopped processing them we lose any kind of control. The support is actually quite minimal. Just enough to survive. Stopping the shelter and food would not stop them coming when they have already traveled thousands of miles and incurred huge debts to do so. It would just turn them out into the black market or a world of crime. A place where some end already but others don’t. Your way would result in them all having no other choice.
We have never had any kind of control to lose. Many of them engage in crime and work in the black market in addition to taking the benefits and support. All support whatsoever should be withdrawn, they would stop coming within a matter of days.

From the government’s own website. In addition, some local councils and idiot charities top this up with mobile phones, clothing and various other gifts and support.

Why do you think these things are done?

1) Because we want to encourage as many as possible to cross the channel in small boats and spend billions each year on them as we have money to waste?

2) Because if we don’t we would create bigger problems and incur higher costs than if we do?

3) Alongside 2) we would be in breech of our treaty obligations and risk our reputation as a leading law abiding country which respects the rights of others?

4. Because those taking these decisions don't have to deal with the effects. If they had to deal with an influx of Eastern European gangsters living nearby they might show a bit more urgency.

The usual diversionary squid-ink from you. Withdraw all benefits and support from illegal immigrants and they would stop coming.
As for a 'breech' of treaty obligations, the archaic meaning of 'breech' is "a person's buttocks" - how appropriate, as that seems to be the area from which you speak.

Other EU countries have clamped down on benefits and asylum claims and stopped people at their borders. All of this has happened without incurring the wrath of the ECHR.

I beginning to think that much like the EU was blamed for not being able to stop migration pre Brexit the ECHR is just an excuse for our Parliament to do nothing.

This is far closer to the truth than most people realise.

It might have something to do with Tony Blair enshrining the ECHR into British law whilst most other countries just use it as a guide. We have to take the wording in its literal sense, hence the problem.

more comedy-gold from Cornwall.

Yeah, those stretched and so busy Police, just too difficult to work out that underage girls are hanging around take-ways and put two and two together.

Yeah, just white (who the same guy spent about a week claiming don't exist) vulnerable working class girls from broken families.....Wrong colour and class for some people.

We still await justice.

Fiat justitia ruat caelum.
