It's well written, can't argue with that.

But a '' Complete Overhaul '' ? I'm not so sure.

New manager, yes. Which could potentially result in some more market activity.

Other than that we have the usual issues with players out of contract.

And the usual speculation about the likes of Wharton.

I would argue that any overhaul has already begun after spending so much money in January.

I don't envisage too hectic a summer. Glasner goes, of course. I imagine one, two, or all three of Clyne, Kamada, and Lerma will leave upon expiry of their contracts. Mateta must be sold.

Clyne would need replacing but he hardly plays, so not a huge issue. Kamada and Lerma are regulars and will need to be replaced or retained.

We've already bought the replacement for Mateta. Moreover, we've bought Johnson too, having already bought Pino. Sarr should still be here, and Nketiah. Maybe Guessand will join. I doubt Uche will. Basically, next years forward line is already here.

The goalie and defenders will likely stay much the same. Hopefully Riad stays fit. Canvot must be given games here and there if we are to get value from him.

I think it's really the midfield where we will need new players, especially if Kamada and/or Lerma leaves.

So maybe three significant signings? Can't imagine there's much left in the piggybank for more than that anyway.

The biggest change will be in the dugout. A new manager, probably a new system of play, given the makeup of the squad available and particularly how much has been spent on forwards.

I don't think it's likely to be an overhaul, other than tactically.

Something like....

Sarr Larsen. Johnson

New. Wharton. Hughes/new

Mitchell. la Croix. Richards Munoz

Henderson

Subs
Pino
Nketiah
Guessand?
New full back
Riad
Canvot
Etc

I’m thinking the same as you neillo, a new manager obviously and four or five decent signings, accounting for mateta and kamada leaving, but ‘complete overhaul’ sounds drastic
Most football clubs are a revolving door these days close season anyway

Pretty much agree. Any additions will probably have to funded from sales such if the likes of Wharton or Munoz wish to leave (hopefully they don't). Perhaps the club may wish to cash-in on Nketiah.
Not a major overhaul for me especially after spending megabucks in January.

We spent (for us) a lot of money in this last window, and, if we like and keep Guessand (and we wanted him in the Summer) then that takes our total outlay to over £100m.

That says to me that we are expecting to sell more than just Mateta.
  • Nketiah would likely have gone to W Ham had he not done his hamstring.
  • Munoz may well want out to have his chance at a bigger club so he might be sold.
  • As for Wharton, he seems to be mature for his years and may decide he needs another year with us but if silly money is offered, all bets are off.
It may well be more than sorting out midfield additions.

Much could happen yet.

Win the ECL and who knows?
