I remember in the January window people commenting on here that Spurs supporters were really keen to sell Johnson. On Sky Sports the presenter Mike Wedderburn playing devils advocate against the presenters who provide transfer updates....'Strand Larsen' Mike said 'he's only scored 3 goals all season...how can he be worth £47m' ? These are the views of the ordinary man so to speak. History tells us again and again that if players do not perform at a high level at another PL Club, they are extremely unlikely to do so when they join Palace. Yet the so called experts believe they know differently.

Correct. Haaland would only score half as many goals in a Palace shirt........especially when you consider the poor levels of service he would be receiving.
And if Strand Larsen played for Citeh, even he would score at least once a season.

Don’t want to say I told you so but I was roundly criticised for saying Johnson was a terrible signing at the time. You only had to look at the Spurs fans forum. Again I pointed out what the main Everton forum was saying about Dwight McNeil. More snide comments directed at me but we are beginning to see he’s useless as well. Football fans know a lot more than their Clubs give them credit for. Some of us have seen two or three times as many games as Hobbs, Parish and Sage after all…..

Its Hobbs job to identify player that fit our system not to pay for them. Thats the board's job. I understood the club (Hobbs/his team) had identified 3 suitable centre halves to replace Lacroix and Guehi. Presumably we were planning on signing two of them.
One the club agreed to sell but kept upping the price, one the club agreed to sell but were unable to complete a deal for their own replacement so pulled the plug. Finally we had one deal all agreed only for the player to change his mind and decide to stay at the club he is at.
This is what I was told. More than once. If true I hardly think Matt Hobbs is responsible for those deals not being completed.
Its easy to look for someone to blame when things go wrong but none of us know what Hobbs is or is not directly responsible for so it really seems a bit of a tantrum to aim frustration at him without all the facts
It would be truly ridiculous to appoint such a complete failure as Rob (I love myself) Edwards. I just cant see Parish being that stupid regardless of what Hobbs thinks of him. But you do know Hobbs had already left Wolves when they appointed Edwards?
