There used to be a 3 p coinYes definitely no chance of an amalgamation.
Raises an interesting scenario with City Status though, we’ve obviously tried a few times over the years to become one, and been rejected each time. Culturally and geographically we are quite intertwined with L.B. of Bromley; financially they are in a much sounder state. I wonder if a joint bid as “City of Croydon & Bromley”… in the style of “City of Brighton & Hove”, would be workable and beneficial.
Dunno about best combination on our council, it’s the worst of all worlds currently, very few decent ones, I’m sure there’s a handful but no more than that. And that dastardly Mayor Perry is as bent as a 3p coin.
I remember the coin but not sure if it was actually 3 p or just called a thrupenny bit.
