Here we go, blatant two tier judiciary

They really think people will forget this if trial delayed long enough, the precedent id that this guy shouild get a lengthy jail term based on other sentencing
22 months in the UK. How long would that be in the US ?

Jones' sentence should be in the context of those jailed after the summer riots, at lightning speed. He is on video so there is no doubt of what he did and said.

I am expecting some kind of medication/mental health/his goldfish died mitigation that will cause outrage

I agree. Not sure the reasons for the delay. Maybe they are hoping that a reason crops up to dismiss the case due to not being able to have a fair trial

I suspect he will not only be jailed but it will be a relatively long term. They have no other choice on this one.

Even our judicary can not be stupid enough as to not do so.

Can't see it myself, they won't be able bring themselves to do it....no reason for the delays otherwise.

Fundamentally they sympathise with him.

They will go light on him.

He’ll complain he was under a great deal of stress due to mental health issues caused by extreme right wingers. In return for a slap on the wrist he’ll agree to a short stay in the Priory, at taxpayers’ expense.

The way the UK prejudiciary is working, everyone commenting on this thread will be banged-up for life. Hurty words and all that 🙂

They are obviously trying to kick the ball into the long grass. This should be a fast-track trial as other posters have stated.

Maybe it is taking them time to formulate a defence with back-dated doctors notes and consultation dates. The mental defence might not be appropriate, as the guy is still working and there is no reporting of him taking sick-leave, or time off to recuperate.

I don't disagree, and I actually WANT them to do all of this because it drives even more people over to our side. Its potentially a huge recruitment opportunity. Hence why I think they might disappoint and actually give him a custodial sentence.

As to the delay, its possible. August is a quiet month, news wise so if they are going to let him off the hook then it might be the time to do it but its also possible it would be an 'interesting' summer so his case will be even more in the spot light.

Lets see.

not remanded in custody ? is being 'a danger to the public' considered as part of the decision-making ? or do you only get remanded in custody for white-collar fraud ?
