Henderson

What's interesting to me is how many of our signings have looked very puzzling at the time and even for a year or so after they join and then come good. I was baffled when we signed him but, of course, he now looks a huge upgrade on Johnstone and Guaita before him.

Same with Hughes and Mateta who I must admit I didn't rate at all at certain points but now are integral. Some will scoff but I've even seen shoots of hope with Kamada at times who I wouldn't be surprised if suddenly came good next season and became important too.

The recruitment team overall do have a very, very high success rate in my opinion compared to a lot of other clubs.
I think most people felt the same about Sam, trouble is despite some thinking they do, none of us know what goes on behind the scenes, especially with players private lives. Maybe Sam wasn’t fully committed and had privately said that he’d like to move on if we got an acceptable offer, or maybe it’s because he couldn’t or wouldn’t play out from the back as many keepers have to do these days. Sitting behind the goal at the Whitehorse we used to comment how many times guehi and Andersen used to stand either side of him waiting for the ball and he’d just wave them away and launch it up field

Henderson has great reflexes and is a great shot stopper. The big change from when he first arrived is he looks brimming with confidence now, like he expects to save every shot. That confidence seems to run throughout the team.

Agree with just about every post here.

I was very much in the 'WTF?' camp when we had Johnstone, and thought he was the better keeper, but I am very grateful we have Hendo now. Seems a great character to have on the team which is always a great attribute for a keeper as it inspires confidence but also... he's fantastic at his job too!

Wouldn't trade him at all.

The Wolves lad who missed the penalty has apparently now missed his last 5, fair play to him for not hiding but I think he should let someone else have a go.
This season Strand Larsen took 2 penalties for Wolves, scored 1, missed 1.
Adam Armstrong has a creditable penalty taking record over the seasons and I thought he would be entrusted with the task of beating Henderson.

Would make a lot more sense with Armstrong. Unfortunately, this lad being black has also been subjected to racist abuse online. It’s definitely more pressure for ethnic players to take a pen, and they’re pretty bloody stressful already!

Yep, Bukayo Saka et al suffered this with the national team.

Dean Henderson’s warning to any wantaway teammates:

“They certainly shouldn’t [be thinking about their next move] and if they have they need to be very careful because if you don’t put the performances in then, ultimately, you don’t get the move."

I love deano
