Happy Brexit Day!

And all amid talk of the 2026 EU gaining Ukraine, Moldova & Bosnia-Herzegovina.

EU 2035 ? Turkey, Morocco , Palestine ? Feckit , lets throw in Haiti ? Especially seeing as we are trying to match so many of their social-statistics.

Turkey were never ever going to get in, never will as long as Greece and Cyprus are in.

That's how politically unaware many of the brexshitters are.

What for you would constitute a successful Brexit?

Greece are constantly being dictated to. North Cyprus is recognised by the EU. How have Greece allowed that?

Because any single member can veto a new member application.

Turkey couldn't pass the other requirements to get in anyway, but if they did Greece would block it.

f*** me, did you actually believe that leaflet?

Having the Euro, full Schengen and no veto
You are pretty sound on a lot of issues but daft when it comes to the EU. Like most Remainers you would say that Brexit is a disaster whatever the reality. Being unable to describe a successful Brexit illustrates that.

Not sure this is true I visited it last year and the locals said only Turkey recognises it.

From Wiki

Northern Cyprus–European Union relations are somewhat strained because the European Union (EU) does not recognise the self-declared Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

I think the EU recognises that Northern Cyprus is not controlled by the Cypriot government but that is not the same thing as accepting it.

There's no such thing. There's Brexit or not, and not is better by many measures. If you didn't care to research why, understand it, or anything, then why would me saying anything here change that?

You were told it's a s*** sandwich and not to eat it, but you bit it and said "hey this sandwich tastes like s***, you didn't make it right"

But thats not what the EU were saying in February 2016 . The EU were even trying to fast track Turkey into Schengen with new visa regulations along with a £6 billion bribe in return for Turkey stemming irregular migration from Asia ,Syria ,Iraq in particular . Accession talks were to be re-energised

That gave the likes of Farage ammunition to use those 'talks' to suggest 70 million Turks could be on their way . Nobody thought 70 million would pitch up the next day but it was easy Brexit food for the masses .

Both Greece and Cyprus welcomed Turkey's application to join the EU in principle 'with conditions' but moving forward the sides were too far apart on human rights issues and talks stalled before said conditions were even discussed .

Most people are politically unaware ,even those that try to get a grip on it fall short on the detail and I would include many MP's in that group . Its probably why they thought remain would win the Brexit vote which was always going to be closer than they were saying .
As a eurosceptic who would have preferred EU reform I think the turning point for me is when Cameron went to Brussels in that same February to renegotiate the UK's terms of membership on sovereignty ,migrants and welfare benefits and economic governance.

He came back with two black eyes and a sore arse ,that was the day I became a leaver

If France was flying being closest to us in terms of GDP, population, geography then I would want to know what they were doing that we aren't. Germany not the same animal over recent years. If neither are thriving economically or politically, what precisely are we missing?

And as mentioned before it was the Lisbon Treaty that did it for me.
