God now you have reminded me of that time when indeed it was the height of fashion to have a short with a one colour body and a white collar/cuffs!
My late father in law was a big fan of that look!

The only direct encounter I've had with hair dye was surreal.
Back in the mid nineties I was a naive undergraduate in the North East.
In order to avoid lectures and alleviate boredom, I accompanied a tawny-maned Middlesboro supporting peer to the local Boots.
I assumed he needed to buy some new razors, or maybe even some deorderant or aftershave. But no: the excursion was for the sole purpose of asking if they had any "grey hair dye" so he could look like 'Silver Bird' Fabrizio Ravanelli!
The confused look on the staff member's face as he kept reiterating it had to be grey has never left me.
