I’ve got no worries about Guehi going for £20m. Better than nothing and hopefully we can get a decent CH in with that money.

Every cloud & that!!The Guehi that ‘played’ against Macclesfield will be no loss.

But unlike any other Palace player he can lift the FA Cup for his new team :-(The Guehi that ‘played’ against Macclesfield will be no loss.

Who will want to come here? The club is in free fall on and off the pitch. Palace will probably just use Jeff or Danny in that position.I’ve got no worries about Guehi going for £20m. Better than nothing and hopefully we can get a decent CH in with that money.

Sorry looks like I'm stalking you but when Guehi was injured a year ago and Lerma deputised, the team suffered no loss of form.Who will want to come here? The club is in free fall on and off the pitch. Palace will probably just use Jeff or Danny in that position.

Yes, but that was in the old times when we used to be interested in trying to win matches!Sorry looks like I'm stalking you but when Guehi was injured a year ago and Lerma deputised, the team suffered no loss of form.

Mmm you make a good point 🤔Yes, but that was in the old times when we used to be interested in trying to win matches!

Shhhh. Don’t let the secret out. Guehi is number 35 in the Premier League Player Rankings and 466 in the World. Maxence Lacroix is number 30 in the Premier League and 265 in the World. I know who I would rather keep. The Man City offer is very clever. Offer Palace £20m with £10m add ons then offer Mark £300,000 p/w as opposed to the £200,000 p/w he was being offered by Liverpool. Over 4 year contract, this will equate to £20m more which with pfa rules is great and for the Saudi owners is a few coppers.
But for Mark, to jump from £50k/wk to £300k/wk is sensational. It was clearly going to get the deal done.
So they get one of the best central defenders on the planet, and within their pay structure for 4 and a bit years for £25-30m. Nice, very nice.
And where we are today, to bank that sort of money which in 5 months goes to zero is exceptional.

A million a month pay rise? That his agent/advisors have played a blinder doesn't alter the fact that football is beyond bonkers. At some clubs anyway. The Man City offer is very clever. supposedly Chelsea get 20% of the whole fee, not on the profit, which is the norm.I’ve got no worries about Guehi going for £20m. Better than nothing and hopefully we can get a decent CH in with that money.

He does. But one issue is that OG plays with a small squad. Injuries and absences to that small core are disproportionately damaging. Let's see how the team now play with the right side restored.Mmm you make a good point 🤔

Unless you take the view as I do that we massively overpaid for Canvot. Wasn’t Riad about £8m and don’t forget Lacroix was signed in a deal worth up to £18m.supposedly Chelsea get 20% of the whole fee, not on the profit, which is the norm.
Not only was this a pretty poor arrangement from Palace's perspective and one i'm surprised we agreed to, but it means we get £16m and not £20m upfront.
As Canvot cost £20m and had played 20 games at the time of the purchase it shows it will be difficult to get a replacement for similar money
The reported fee for Riad was £14m plus add ons.Unless you take the view as I do that we massively overpaid for Canvot. Wasn’t Riad about £8m and don’t forget Lacroix was signed in a deal worth up to £18m.
Agree we did massively overpay for Canvot and it appears we will do the same if we get the lad from Angers.Unless you take the view as I do that we massively overpaid for Canvot. Wasn’t Riad about £8m and don’t forget Lacroix was signed in a deal worth up to £18m.
Riad was hardly cheap and has been injured for the last year and a half. Not sure we can use him as an example of a good transfer policy. The reported fee for Riad was £14m plus add ons.

Did we? We have yet to see him. Consider his age. He was bought for the future. His early and unexpected experience could prove invaluable.Agree we did massively overpay for Canvot and it appears we will do the same if we get the lad from Angers.
I didn't say we couldn't get a replacement, but it will be difficult.
As i have said a number of times Tanganga in the summer for his £1.5m release clause was surely a no brainer. A decent championship defender who is still young enough to improve under good coaching.
With European football we always needed a couple more CBs and with the MG situation it was always a strong possibility he would go at some point.

Surely an example of poor luck over poor judgement?Riad was hardly cheap and has been injured for the last year and a half. Not sure we can use him as an example of a good transfer policy.
The £14m includes add ons BTW

And a younger replacement for Andersen plus change. Good businessUnless you take the view as I do that we massively overpaid for Canvot. Wasn’t Riad about £8m and don’t forget Lacroix was signed in a deal worth up to £18m.
