Something is either true or not.

You are being selective in your observations. I'm in no doubt that migrants do not cause the wealth gap, but they do exacerbate it by leaching money from our treasury. That has to make us all poorer.

It's funny that you think that. You seem to be a little mixed up generally.

This is a thread about 'grooming gangs' aka disgusting paedophile rapists. The 'elites' are certainly to blame indirectly for them, in so much as they should never have been here in the first place. Not to mention the socialists who tried to brush it under the carpet.

I'd say that there is a lot of blame to go around.

To get money off of the super-rich you have two options....Have something that incentives them to be here (difficult as our elites have destroyed the country...and yes foreigners are part of that) or you steal it from them....and end up like Argentina was.

Unless you have some other magic answer that is going to keep billionaires here?

getting back to the OP. Is it safe to say that most of the victims of the Grooming Gangs were white girls from impoverished backgrounds ? with little or zero family defensive-infrastructure ?

try getting a girl pregnant in Renaissance Italy and see how long before the brothers, uncles and cousins rush in to defend her honour ? The past is another country.

Some families were actually threatened with arrest when they tried to get the police to help.

It's incredible to me how many people remain utterly convinced by capitalisms virtues, and the evils of any sort of alternative or hybrid approach, despite most people agreeing that our democracy and society is not functioning as it should, and despite the unequivocal data showing that a tiny percentage of people are hoarding obscene amounts of wealth with living standard collapsing for everyone else.


It's also remains incredible to me that many people actually think you hit high-level wealth just by 'working hard' or 'being successful'.

For a long time we have had a predominantly capitalist system with some socialist ideas and policies intertwined within it - if we all acknowledge that we have allowed capitalism to corrupt our political system and seen an enormous transfer of wealth from the middle and working classes to the rich, I don't see why it's so unpalatable to some that we may need to reign in capitalism slightly so that it works for the majority again.

My forebears were all working class, they would be amazed by the standard of living that most of us enjoy these days.

I have sympathy toward this viewpoint.

The problem is you can't really reign in capitalism within a global system, because the movement of capital is so easy.

You can only attract it....which if you are going to have competition that requires exploitation.

You can't force capital to reside in your country.....There have to be reasons for it to remain. High tax countries have to be very pleasant places to live.....and I'm sorry but what has been done to Britain over the last few decades doesn't equate to that.

Countries that are attractive for various reasons, lifestyle or economics can afford to use policies that protect rights over other countries......I was never a big fan of globalism and this is one of the reasons....it makes you a slave to capital markets.

England use to be an attractive place in terms of lifestyle with its nice rural villages and cities like London with so much culture.....but because of the social/neo liberals that all changed. People go to London now and ask where the English are...There is little connection to the history they were raised with and what greets their eyes walking the places......They see their famous buildings but not the descendants of those that built them.....they hear about knife crime. I see that having an effect on tourism because the 'grey goo-ification' of Britain only harms us.

Really? I would have thought it's pretty obvious following on from what you posted, or do you think equally distributing wealth would work in the long term.
Mind you I'm not sure what any of this has to do with grooming gangs.
