Grooming gangs

Maybe if Muslim leaders actually surfaced to push hmg to get on with it and call it out for what it is it will help. The silence is very telling as I’m sure many lower class Muslims like us no bodies want the monkey off their back so to speak.
Are hmg worried about the votes ( doesn’t matter they’re gone anyway) or do they see it could cause violence from Muslim communities shouting racist or the like.
I really don’t know .

In the day Labours HQ was nearby (it has since moved) In Walworth Road. So that has a ring of authenticity.
Don't forget Labour's Harriet Harman when she allowed the Paedophile Information Exchange to openly call for the legalisation of sex with children at National Council for Civil Liberties meetings.

I've met her always a little flaky, her husband Jack Dromey (dead) a very well respected man.

I once had the (dis)pleasure of hearing Jack Dromey speak.

Dromey belittled a question from the audience because the questioner had a cockney accent. I thought, what a strange attitude from a Labour politician. If Rees-Mogg had done that he would have been slaughtered for all time.
Anyway, I sensed Dromey was a wrong-un.

Not just Labour I think the quality of brains that goes into politics has diminished.

The general view is that a first rate brain just doesn't want to put up with intrusion into their personal life that pre 1960's never happened. The Profumo Affair was the turning point when the media stopped covering up for politicians and went full on bear bating.

Today the type of person who goes into politics is probably closer to the reality TV type personality (loves the media) than the big brain / public service / patriot of old.

So where are the big brains with the big ideas for society? Good question answers on a postcard please.

Spot on.

It's an issue over all our intellectual classes, the best aren't going into politics and instead it's being filled with relative midwits and careerists.

For the left the days of intellectuals with real weight like Foot, Cook and even Benn seem to be long gone.

The decline in the country is, in part, due to this problem.....though politicians have been handling a poisoned chalice since Blair's changes. The Tories had 14 years to undo his damage, especially so with the eighty seat majority and instead they were in love with Blairism and deepened and extended his policies.
