Concerts at the Greyhound continued into the eighties but the venue failed to attract the calibre of acts that were seen there in the previous decade. Thus when it closed in 1986, the Greyhound went out with a whimper rather than with a bang!

The one gig I went to that stands out in my fading memories of that time was Roxy Music around August time ( I think ) in 1972.

There were so many people showed up that they cancelled the support band and instead played 2 sets that night.

Obvious one for me is AC/DC, but there were sooo many. I'd only be around 10 for most of them, so not much I could do.
Am really into The Motors at the moment. "Airport" 😀
was that about Croydon airport ? 😀
Forget About You was good song too. They were a fine Pub Rock band but weren't together very long.

The list of gigs doesn't go far enough back for me.

I think my first visit to the Greyhound was late 1969 and from memory I saw The Faces ( who played a shortened set because they turned up late); Yes ( with Pete Banks still in the line-up); T Rex ( early days of going electric), Fairport Convention (always good fun), Love ( a bit disappointing); Blodwyn Pig, Taste (excellent) and East of Eden.

I was very lucky to have been to the Greyhound quite q few times seeing all the 'Punk' type bands. As a 14 yr old the first band i saw was Squeeze at The Rose Theatre Greenwich circa very late Dec. '76. Supporting them were Generation X and they had a massive impact on me and i got to see them a lot of times in London including the dates at the Greyhound. Living in Catford ,me n the lads used to jump on the 75 bus on a Sunday to Croydon. None of the bands had records out so it was a case of turn up to see what they were like. We used to listen to my best mates sisters lp's and in her collection was the Ramones so we became big fans and again, got to see them several times in London including twice at the Greyhound.Ultravox(pre Midge) were amazing and I remember they had a huge search light behind them and when it flicked on n off it was intense and blinding. The Damned were another also as the Doomed,Buzzcocks,X-Ray Spex,The Jam and it was jammed. Everyone po-going and you could feel the floor(it was upstairs) bouncing! The Cure with Gen.X. Magazine who were playing on the evening of the Rock Against Racism at Victoria Park featuring the Clash. We came straight over from that gig to see Magazine(who were fantastic) but the Greyhound was half empty. Oh the memories!!! Ollie's Dad,Ash.

one very sticky carpet, as I remember.
Ive only been a few times And cannot remember all the bands due to other.
The saints (stranded) was one & I think souxsie .
Used to use the ground floor bar , often early Sat. pm after finishing work in my shop job.
