Glasner to Forest

Does he f***
Why would he owe us anything now?

When he was under contract, he owed us his best performance in that role. He delivered three trophies.

Some may argue whether he delivered his best, but he delivered a darn sight more than anyone else has for us, and we should all be thankful for it.

Now he is a free agent. So he owes nobody sweet scoobie sh'tcakes. Yes, it will sting if he goes there, yes we won't like it, but no, he doesn't owe us anything.

Tainted it for me. I don't have the glossy eyed opinion of Coppell as most do.

Whilst Coppell going to Brighton was disappointing (similar to Schmeichel playing for Man City!) i think you have to remember they were different times.

Coppell was on £16k p.a (£30k split between him and Evans) when he became manager in 1984 and never got the silly money that the prem era has created.

After Palace he didn't get any big offers that perhaps he deserved and maybe his few weeks at Man City put people off. However, it is strange that he didn't get offered, or didn't accept, another managerial position in between his first few Palace stints - after all he took us to 3rd in 91, and left in 93.

When he left Palace for the 4th time he went to Brentford, also owned by Noades, which was a step down.

I think Brighton was the best offer he had and at that time he would have been approaching 50 and divorced (remember the Madden chant!) and probably needed the money.

Glasner going to Forest is both a shock, and also not a shock, as football doesn't surprise me anymore.

Glasner is clearly a good manager, but not perfect. Last season was pretty awful most of the time, and the Conf league win does paper over a few cracks.

Having said that we won 2 major trophies under his leadership so we must give me a lot of credit for that. Thank you and goodbye.

From his perspective the prem will no doubt be the best paying league in the world and other than a few top clubs in the other top 4 leagues no one can compete. I think his inflexible playing style, his managerial approach which requires 100% control and his outspoken views have definitely put the big clubs off.

Maybe Forest is the best of what is left.

On paper they are a step up - bigger crowds, more money to spend etc.

I'm sure he has got a payrise (think he was on £80k a week at Palace) and no doubt has arranged a decent contract terminal payment (supposedly at Palace he would get £5m pay off if sacked, regardless of the length of time left in his contract).

Unfortunately, with their chairman i can only see it ending in tears.
It might work well in the 1st season with no European football, and i also suspect he may try and get a couple of Palace lads in, but can see problems in year 2, especially if FFP (or whatever it's now called) kick in

May well be that a few of his devotees, will attempt to abandon ship and follow him to Forest, apparently a bigger Club.
Lacroix Mateta,Wharton and the Japanese Ace,spring to mind.

He lost his first game with them 0-5 to us and they got relegated that season!!

I think it’s obvious why agent Coppell went to the Weed!!

Sorry but don’t believe it will happen. The man is not stupid or desperate.
No, agreed but this role is going to make him one of the best paid managers in the Premier League so when he falls out with his Fat Controller, he'll get a whopping great pay-off. Forest rejected him in 2023 due to his personality and tbf, Marinakis & Glasner, would hardly make a compatible couple.

I doubt it.
Some may even be glad he left. They may’ve found him intense, difficult and likely to throw them under a bus quite easily.

Some also may’ve really liked him like you suggest but I doubt there will be a mass exodus from our players wanting to go there plus 3 of the players you’ve mentioned are under contract and the other is rumoured to all but have signed the new contract yet (probably cos he was away at the World Cup).

Glasner is a very difficult person to manage with many temper tantrums, if rumours are true. Parish dealt with him well but was getting exasperated with him. I doubt if Marinakis will put up with him for long, he seems trigger happy.
He is reportedly going to be getting £10m a year, which dwarfs the £4m a year he got at Palace.
