Glasner Out

People talk about Glasner like he has league titles under his belt, and European trophies by the bucket load, if he was any good a bigger team would have got him, he has managed us, Wolfsburg and Frankfurt all who couldn't wait for him to go.
Glasner has more European trophies than Mikel Arteta.
He has also won as many trophies in England as Mikel Arteta.

"terrible" is a manager who has had 120m of attacking players since he has been here and cannot jell a team who looks the same standard as a poor team, even though they are light years off premier league standard.
Cannot jell a team? We've lost 2 games in 2 months.

Also to pick up on another of your posts - I'm not particularly a Glasner apologist, I'm just realistic about Crystal Palace. The facts of the last 12 months for me is this - I've seen us lift 2 trophies at Wembley, I've flown to 3 different countries to watch us play in Europe and in the process met some incredible people and had some amazing nights. I was in a bar in Dublin where the song "Yeremyyyy" was louder than the live music act, surrounded by buzzing Palace fans. I'm going to Florence to watch us play Fiorentina in a quarter final of Europe where hopefully we have another great night.

I'll be honest - I couldn't give a monkeys who is in charge of the team, this is the best we have EVER had it. Don't let that pass you by because it may be another lifetime before it happens again.

Its not a very high bar in all fairness , any manager that has won a trophy has won as much as Arteta . Rumour has it Roy has won 13 trophies as a manager .

Am I being naive in thinking that a professional player on a minimum salary of £1m should be proficient with both feet? Must be possible with sufficient training.
Not naive, no, but unrealistic.
Most players are selected from youth on their merits, and unless they have made a point to train their 'weaker' foot, then they'll likely grow up to be one footed.
There's the argument that those youngsters who are signed on to an academy at an early enough age (U12?), (in The Uk at least) should be forced into training with their weaker foot, but if their good enough with one - how much of a problem is it?
Many players still don't progress through the academy system, so being 2 footed is very much a bonus skill for them. So for players like Sarr who started in Africa, I doubt any emphasis from the coaches was put onto it.
As an Adult, you can practice with your weaker foot, but much more difficult to learn than if you were u12 so unlikely to get it to the same level...and as their under pressure to produce week after week, I dare say this not a priority to do anyway.

I have come to hope that Johnson will revert to being the player he was if the new manager puts him on the right wing, which seems to be where he did well for forest and Spurs. It's part of the criticism of Glasner that he's played Johnson out of position and, in so doing, derailed him.

Thing is, the theory only works if the player has such a specific skill set that being moved from right wing at previous clubs to inside forward at palace is all it takes to turn him from a goalscoring talent into an innocent bystander.

I think that's perhaps a stretch too far for me. I think the player has to take the largest share of the blame for his own poor form.
Maybe you're right. He certainly has to own at least a fair share of responsibility for his move not working out so far regardless of where he is put in the team. A quality player can do a job anywhere on the pitch. Of course all players have their favourite position, where they are most comfortable but you wouldn't expect Johnson to look as lost as he has at times.

Very well said. Some people are determined not to enjoy the good times because being right matters more. Even when they are proven wrong again and again and again 🤣 🤣 🤣

Yoda was over 900 years old when he passed away!!

but he did win 25 trophies so i'll let you off!
His later years in charge of the (Jedi) academy team were not good. Produced one very promising player but he suffered a potentially career ending injury and then developed some series attitude issues. I’ve heard this second hand as it was a long time ago

Sure we’ve had some good times this season. And we’ve beaten some poor teams since the new year. We’ve also had Macclesfield away, Burnley at home and the last dozen or so games have been a seriously hard watch, apart from maybe Spurs away.

Its opinions, i want Palace to win every game, but this season has been dire, very poor in both domestic cups, 1 league win at home in the league since Nov 6th, groundhog day with very poor selections, players out of position, stumbled through an awful standard European competition, you may be happy with this seasons output, but i am not, 90m spent, lets hope the new manager, who ever he is, knows how to use them.

Is that what this season is, the good times.
