Glasner Out

With our transfer business we’ve signed very non Glasner players who seem way more suited to a system where we play with a back four and wingers. Makes me think we are preparing to get him gone. Would make sense given we have two weeks after the Brighton game for a new person to come in and have time with the squad.

I can only surmise that the club already have someone lined up and these signings are for that person. It's unlike Parish to splash the cash in such a free manner, although I suspect he must have finally realised that his dream of unveiling his shiny new stand to a Premiership audience was in jeopardy.

We don’t have 2 weeks we play the following Wednesday v Burnley then Thursday the following week. We only miss a weekend due to FA cup.

Of course Parish should have sacked him then, from that date you know he isn't committed to the clubs long term future just the next six months, you cannot put any faith in him then, and it has certainly showed in the performances, and he has the nerve to criticize the club selling players, he has no say, keep you mouth shut, you have made your position known, its almost laughable if it wasn't so inept
Think you have cut our most successful period out of your mind! It was 2025 he to,d SP he wasnt staying

Better than average podcast The Football Boardroom, focusing on Palace and specifically the Guehi transfer/Glasner situation
It features Christian Purslow, who has had leading executive roles at Villa, Liverpool and Chelsea. Bit pro-Parish as they are friends

If anyone heard the interview Glasner did after todays win against Brighton with Talksport it does sound like theres some chance he will maybe rethink leaving.

Said he loves the club.... The fans.... The feeling.

Talksport hosts then went onto say he loves London and that Simon Jordan has said hes heard mumers of him maybe changing his mind ect.

that was a brilliant question bw the moose!!

Simon jordan said the other day that he thinks there is a chance he may stay and i'm sure he still knows people at the club.

Well after we spent £100m in the transfer window he can't really moan about a lack of investement any more

“Listen Steve. I’m sorry about the outbursts. I’m afraid I have trouble controlling my emotions in extreme situations. I say things I shouldn’t. You know I love this club, these fans, and these players. Not so sure about Mr Hobbs. When is Dougie coming home? I can have this squad ticking over like a well oiled machine by the end of the season and I wont need any more players unless you sell someone. You can sell the donkey with the dodgy knee of course.
Let’s get back together again for another couple of years and win the Europa League. The fans will love it… apart from that guy sunning himself in Lanzarote. By the way you’re rocking that haircut!”

Excellent article which gets to the hub of the matter.
Furthermore, it gets to the heart of the issue with Glasner.

There's no escaping that Palace are a mid table club; when Glasner joined amongst his first words were that if Palace wanted a manager content with a mid table finish, 'I'm not that guy.'

It was always going to end this way.
That is interesting we are today thirteenth.

Parish apparently has a new bold hairstyle. I wasn’t expecting it to have quite that effect!

I’m happy for him to stay. A month ago, I was pro-Glasner in a sea of Parish worshippers. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle of the two camps, as often is in arguments.

However, the players we have now are more suited to a back 4 and I’d like to see him show he’s a flexible Manager otherwise he’d be holding us back.

If we were buying for Glasner, we arguably signed the wrong profile of player. It looks for sure it’s for a different manager that’s going to play 4-3-3 and lots of pace and crosses.

If Glasner stays, that’s fine as long as when we do get a CB injury he doesn’t throw his toys out the pram and force people into a back 5 that doesn’t work. Guehi was a huge part of that system working and if Munoz gets an injury I don’t want to see Clyne as our most attacking winger on the right and leaving Johnson, Guessan, dare I say Mateta on the bench.

Inflexibility has cost us in the past and it could be a reason we don’t win a gettable European cup. Against minnows, let Richard’s and Lacroix mop up and play a free flowing attack that can go and get us 3-0 up in first legs.

Even today, I believe we had the players on the field and on the bench to be able to beat that awful Brighton team by more than 1 (but probably not the game to make this point). And hey, that actually is my point, do back 5 by all means when it could work, it won’t work against Macclesfield or crap European teams and it won’t work if Munoz or Lacroix get an injury.
