Glasner Out

I really believed after our amazing achievements last season, we would push on this year. There was such a positive buzz around the place - and I’ve never seen so many Palace tops being worn!

If you would have told me 7 months later our club would be in turmoil - I would have laughed!

There will plenty of time to chew this over after the season has finished. However, Parish needs to make a ‘brave’ decision and get rid of Glasner now! He has lost his enthusiasm, belief in the club and most importantly, the players!

I wish I could write something erudite, but I can't, its a total s*** show and looks like Parish has lost control and we are now in free fall because that was a very poor performance today. A risk averse strategy in the summer is really hurting, rather than protecting the club, it is actually destroying value and undoing all the brand value we created from the FA Cup win. Time for the board to pivot and demand something new - Parish means well, but is out of his depth.

Our team needs a cb, a midfielder, a striker and if we do not get those things then a new manager with different tactics.
This small squad does not suit Glasner who has effective but one dimensional tactics.

I can only guess he is so angry Guehi is going at short notice that he decided to announce he is leaving as revenge. He and the club need to part ways or come to some agreement.
This explains why there has been no communication from the club as they didn’t expect him to announce it yet

Can't see how there is a happy ending to this any way round.

Its a case of hoping we can limp over the line and stay up, whoever is in charge.

I still blame the board. Didn't do enough in the summer regarding signings and here we are in the middle of January with one new player. Guehi gone, Mateta probably going and fringe players loaned out.

I really hope SP goes at the end of the season now. It was a time to show some ambition and yet we've regressed badly and a lot of that rests with him and the board.

In this morning's 'Telegraph', the manager is quoted as saying that the Chairman has no ego and Oliver Glasner has no ego.

There are those psychiatrists who would claim that everyone has an ego. People who refer to themselves in the third person might be said to have a very developed one...

The question of whether the Chairman or the Manager is more to blame for the present problems is playground politics. What is undeniable is that we have two points from the last twenty one. What is arguable is that that is sacking form. That doesn't need to happen. 'Gardening Leave' is a possibility . It is highly unusual to have a manager who has served notice to quit with half the season gone and yet the intention to stay to the end of it. Indeed, the suggestion is that he made the decision with a quarter of the season gone! I suggest that the present arrangement is unsustainable. There is no reason the manager should be paid off, but somebody needs to come in to take charge of the team.

His interview was pretty revealing.
I think it is quite clear he would like to be fired. This is just like Amorim at Man Utd. Openly attacking the Board and blaming them. Not making any subs when losing to make a point. More focussed now on proving a point and controlling the narrative than trying to do the best for the team.

Exceptionally unprofessional especially when you have decided you are off to further your own career.

Very toxic now. Such a shame and so disappointing OG has conducted himself like this.

"Careerists" is the wrong word - they're not politicians. The football world is very competitive and many have short careers so need to maximise it as best they can. Nothing wrong with that at all. We all go for new jobs with better pay and conditions but football fans often think their managers and players should have unlimited loyalty.

Managers have short careers?

I'm ok with the careerist word, and while many will go for better paid jobs.....While that's true to an extent it's not true to the extent of using the 'all' word.

Many of the people in the public sector could have chosen better pay if that was their highest motive.

Unfortunately his post match comments reflect a man who wants out now!

Very strange to have made the decision in October when we were 5th in the league, in all 4 competitions and on an unprecedented unbeaten run.

Not sure why he feels that way but time to move on. Frank available in the morning l!!

Thx for helping achieve a “bucket list” wish.

Glasner is true in his interview with sky , absolute stupidity to allow MG to go the day before the match after they trained all week .. as a result we lost and Marc got the day off to travel
Parish your decisions ,lack of ambition and being in control of tight fisted America billionaires will make us another Coventry , Derby , Birmingham or be wolves soon if u don’t look after us

I am feeling less goodwill today, as it seems that it is all just part of the Oliver Glasner show. I would put him on gardening leave and put Paddy in charge while we find a permanent replacement. Sacking him would be much too kind, I think. I expected him to leave at the end of his contract, but from what I can see he has been treading water for several months. No real excuse for all the issues with set pieces or recent results.
If I were Parish I’d offer him to ‘leave by mutual consent’ and start a negotiation of gardening leave/sacking from there. It’s better for the club to move on and I think it’s better for him anyway.

If I were a chairman who wanted him I’d be tapping him up, though I feel his stock is plummeting.
