some how he forgot everything i was perplex with what he was doing , he started to go down hill from FA cup semi v chelsea they was there for the taking and the players seem to stop at halfway line

I agree that semi-final was a turning point for Vieira - he got it so wrong on the biggest day of our season, and it all seemed to start to fall apart from there.

He had Olise sat on the bench FFS.
 
Well said Neillo. Vieira's awful run resulted in him effectively throwing in the towel and (apparently) refusing to come into work at the very end. He'd lost the plot and didn't seem to know a way to deal with the slump in form.

I believe there is a clear reason why we're struggling at present:
  1. We've played more games this season than any other PL club (fact).
  2. We played the most games of any PL club during December up to and including the FA Cup weekend (fact)
  3. We have done all this with a relatively small squad
  4. Our preferred starting XI has been missing several key players for the last 4 weeks during which we haven't won a single game.
  5. Prior to this bad run (and before the key absences) we had the following record: won 14 (incl 2 pen shootouts) drawn 6 and lost just 5 (in the league 7 wins, 5 draws and 3 defeats}.
  6. After 21 league games we are 14 points clear of 18th placed West Ham who have just HALF our points.
It seems reasonable to deduce that once we have (most of) our 1st XI back and they are up to speed we can have genuine hope that our results will be nearer those we had in our games prior to the current slump than those of the recent past.

That's how I see it, anyway, even if Glasner's contract situation isn't sorted in the next few weeks.

I expect clarify one way or the other shortly.

I feel the uncertainty has had a significant effect on form.

You seem to have the footballing knowledge of a Peanut, you sound like a kid in the playground, as if you are going to burst into tears anytime, when you leave school think very carefully about your career, PR isn't probably a good bet

I'm not sure i totally agree. Yes we had a great run end of last season/early this season but many of those games were drawn and both games v the Norwegian side, who sat back in both legs, we did struggle to create chances , albeit Eze was absent in the first leg.

With no Sarr, which we've known about for months, we have struggled to create chances and the stats show this. Having an out of form Pino, and a hardworking but limited Devenny either side of Mateta is not a great line up, regardless of the opposition.

You mention changing the system and integrating 'new guys'. Well OG never changes the system so i can't see any changes there and if new guys includes fringe players well he's had opportunities to give them time off the bench and has rarely done so. Now there is some logic here - the fringe players are not as good, but when Munoz got injured Clyne had barely played any minutes all season. You could say the same for Esse and Uche - they barely get game time so when they do they struggle. Against Villa he didn't even give Uche minutes, despite Mateta tiring in the last 20 and he let Esse go out on loan before the Macc game despite limited options in the attack and then plays a 16 year old in that position

Is it not more to do with the fact that the back ups you mention are nowhere near good enough?

Centre midfield is probably the only position where we have quality depth, and Glasner has not been shy in rotating between those 4 over the course of the last two seasons - it doesn’t seem his issue is with rotation itself, but with the options available to him to rotate.

I don’t think OG is at any immediate risk of the sack. Far from it in fact. I think the board would like him to sign a contract extension. However, if he doesn’t and then next few results go badly I wouldn’t be shocked if they moved on.

A scenario where we lose the next three and he still hasn’t committed to us would put huge pressure on the Brighton game. If we lost that then I could well see the board deciding to make a change. I’d still be surprised but could certainly see the case for it.

Clearly hope it doesn’t come to that. I hope we get something from the next games and OG resolves his future with us. I always want to see us win.
