Glasner Out

I am as disappointed as anyone with the current form but calling for the manager to go is plain silly. Yes he can be frustrating with his tactical inflexibility and not rotating the squad in Europe was a mistake in my opinion. However, overall he has been great for us, delivered silver ware, has us comfortably in mid table and has a refreshingly straight forward style.

I think it is a moot point anyway as I can’t see him staying beyond this season. Lack of player investment will be cited as the reason but then if you aren’t sure your manager will stay why would you spend now as opposed to waiting for the new person?

Biggest knee jerk reaction ever. I'm guessing you're quite young?
The players are PROFESSIONALS. They are paid (Massive money) to do their job. Glasner's situtaion is none of their business.
As far as Glasner himself is concerned he has every right to see what the club do in the January window before deciding to commit or not. The club and Glasner have agreed they will sit down mid January and see if a deal can be done.
If its a yes then that is great news. If he says no then the process of finding his successor begins.
Its called patience. Its not rocket science
This would infer that you are of the belief that the process has not yet commenced.

God dammit, who left the rope and stockings out for Lanzo to auto-asphyxiate with again?

The squad look knackered. Probably our most important player this season (Munoz) is injured and we don't have a proper backup. We don't have a proper replacement for Sarr, even though the club knew he'd be away for AFCON, and it seems the whole team has suddenly forgotten where the goal is. Despite that, we're still in Europe and have our second-highest points tally for this stage of a Premier League season and are three points off the top 5, and all with a net spend of -£23 million.
Our squad value has dropped nearly 200m according to transfermkt, due mainly the appalling signings sanctioned by Glarsner, the players are tired due to 110m spunked on Pino, Nketiah, Canvot, Uche(possibly) Sosa and Esse. None premier league players

“In four days, we’re playing Fulham here. We have matches on the [January] 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th, four games in nine days.

“That’s why summer feels very far away for me, not just because of the temperatures, but because the daily schedule simply leaves no time to think about it.”

His exact words to the German media when questioned about his future at Crystal Palace , Doesn't sound too reassuring surely if he was going to sign an extension he would say talks are on going .

I think Canvot will be good enough, Uche could be. Nketiah and Pino may be average squad players. I think we should consider trying Pino as a centre midfielder. Not that we even use centre mids. He doesn't have the pace and power up top. Esse won't make it on current form. Sosa is surprisingly poor and isn't good enough. I wonder would he be a better left midfielder. Again a position we don't use.

At Villarreal last season he was deployed primarily as a touchline-hugging winger usually on the right.
He played under Unai Emery at the club.
He has been largely ineffective at our club, flattering to deceive. Flashes of skill but overall no significant impact on the game.
Perhaps in time we will witness a much better version of Pino.

Have you forgotten your many posts heavily recommending Nketiah prior to his signing? He's crap btw.

Borna Sosa was highly effective in the Bundesliga, particularly due to his exceptional crossing ability and role as a top assist provider for VfB Stuttgart
He was considered a key player for his team and earned comparisons to David Beckham for his delivery from set-piece situations.

Key Highlights of Borna Sosa's Bundesliga Career :
  • Top Creator: In his final season with Stuttgart (2022-23), Sosa attempted and completed the most crosses of any Bundesliga player, creating the most chances from those deliveries.
  • High Assist Numbers: He was a consistent source of assists throughout his time in Germany.
    • 2020-21 Season: Provided 9 assists in the Bundesliga.
    • 2021-22 Season: Recorded 8 assists.
    • 2022-23 Season: Delivered 7 assists.
  • Key Partnership: He formed a particularly effective partnership with striker Sasa Kalajdzic, often providing pinpoint crosses for the tall forward to score, especially with his head.
  • Overall Impact: He made 115 appearances for VfB Stuttgart, providing a total of 35 assists, establishing himself as one of the most reliable and important left-backs in the league during his tenure.

I was talking to a guy at the gym yesterday 😏, he thought the same as i did , that Glasner really threw Canvot under the bus against Arsenal , firstly he's not a right back , and up against one of the best attacking wingers in the Premier League against Martinelli , getting absolutely no help from Nketiah at all , anytime Munoz is under pressure Sarr always drops back to help him Glasner should have demanded that Eddie tracked back to help the poor chap out , at 19 years old that could really destroy your confidence , very bad man management imo . Pino is very lightweight and should concentrate on football instead of throwing himself to the ground everytime someone touches him Uche is trying too hard i reckon , ya gotta love his effort tough , and if Glasner is leaving we should hold onto him for the rest of the season and give him a fair go . . Just my oppinion .

All very good copying and pasting stats and on paper he looks good, but he has been awful every time he has played this season, that can't be denied

In all probability, OG will be gone in the summer. That's life.

This "Glasner out" nonsense though. He's achieved great things with us and will continue to be a professional. We have a comparatively limited squad which is always a few injuries away from being a problem. If you want a club that can complete effectively on three fronts, you need a squad that can make two PL quality teams.

Do you mean it's not a moot point? If it's 'moot', it's a matter for discussion. If Glasner is leaving anyway, then it is NOT a matter for discussion. Agree with your point about why would Parish spend now.

There are 3 reasons for our continued slide into mediocrity, it’s not the depth of squad, it’s the poor quality of our latest signings, Pino, Uche, Sosa, Esse and Canvot about 80m, if you add Nketiah 30m none of the 6 are Premier league standard, all agreed by Glasner, his own words, I would show a bit of Leeway to Nketiah as he is always played out of position.
Secondly, Glasners total lack of flexibility with his selections and tactics, the farcical line up against Kups, being a case, and Thirdly the air of uncertainty created by Glasner with his choice of comments to the media, the season now is winning the Conference league and a mid table finish, but I am not sure Glasner has the resourcefulness to do that.
Across the pl how many overseas signings with no pl experience have done well in the first half of the season. Not many

Canvot was always one for the future. Pino has been ok and clearly has talent but is young. Uche is just starting to find his feet but looks better as the main striker. Esse needs to mature but does appear to have taken on board the feedback from Glasner

Our first blip this season and we shouldn’t overly criticise in same way not too get too carried away earlier in the season when we we’re undefeated. Long way to go and I am confident with a couple of signings we will finish top 8 and chance of a cup (especially the conference).

Up the palace

It’s a moot point in the sense it makes for a debate, hence moot, but has no real practical impact. I suppose in that sense anything on the Holmesdale is moot 😀

In my view Parish needs to be clear that investment comes with commitment.

Don't get me wrong, if there is a player available, who chooses us, who clearly improves the side then an argument can be made.

However, if you spend money on Glasner targets when he is leaving all you are doing is restricting the incoming manager. Those people can't then turn around and complain later if things go badly because the new manager will have limited scope to change it......He's managering with Glasner's side, not his own.
