Glasner is a Glazier

I love his post match interviews.
He's somebody that clearly loves the technical side of the game and is happy to explain his approach and team tactics.

Unlike Roy's smattering of cliches after a match, OG actually sounds like somebody that knows where they are doing.

Long may he stay.

Same, absolutely love it.

I've watched a lot of football, but have no 'formal training'. And as a result, knew something felt different in the 2nd half, but didn't know what. And definitely couldn't articulate it.

Since Glasners interviews, I've often always wondered why most other managers dont talk like this, and as you said talk in cliches.
 
I agree about Glasner's clarity in his analysis.

Mind you, it must be demanding for the players!
Discussing Chilwell on Monday he said he must be careful about leaving the space behind him for the opposition to exploit , while at the same time asking him to be aggressive in the forward positions that he takes up.

The two aren’t necessarily contradictory. He talked afterwards about him being good in possession, more attacking than Mitchell, but a bit passive in defending leaving space in behind. I don’t think he expects him to stay deep or run back to cover when we lose possession, but rather to be aggressive in forward positions with and without the ball i.e. press high when we lose the ball to prevent the pass in behind rather than stand off and allow the ball in behind .

all well and good. But don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.
As Don Corleone said "never let your enemies know what you are thinking"

Sun Tzu would mumble in platitudes & rambling nonsense too.
 
OG has us playing so well away from home. Would be nice if he could stop us being such a soft touch at home. He’s got us playing some good stuff and agree with comments about his interviews. I especially liked when he was asked about Mateta scoring and said “that’s his job”.

However, home form is a problem we haven’t solved and in all likelihood we will probably have another season of c45 points.

4-1 tonight is a good start. Ollie is the real deal and is proving to be a top class manager. We are extremely fortunate to have him at our club.

He deserves much credit for persevering with his style of play and tactics that are now delivering such good results after a poor start to the season.

We really are lucky. Even more so considering some of the names mentioned before he came.
This is from the BBC for instance:
Mateta had scored just 11 goals in 81 games for Palace before Glasner's appointment but has registered 25 goals in 40 games since the Austrian took over.
Of course credit goes to JPM himself but Ollie deserves some too for getting the best out of him and the other lads.
 
I completely agree that OG is totally top... but here's another thing...

Not so long ago, there was the 'palace with Wilf vs Palace without Wilf' stat. Whilst I've never considered us a one man team, look at the transformation now. Yes, we have a thin squad, but we have quality young players and will keep attracting quality young players.

The next step is a Brighton-esque can we sell our best players for £100m+ and still keep the top talent coming through... I am hopeful we can and will enjoy watching our young players develop into top top footballers.

Up the Palace and long may we give quality managers like Glasner the nod.

As a footnote, with bugger all money, I have nothing but gratitude for Roy. He really didn't let us down.

You wait till we win the Cup Eagleman, the interweb will be ablaze with rumours about our manager. I don't like it any more than you, but it's the age we live in. Our top players will also be targeted.

Personally I don't think Glasner will want to go at this stage, I think he'll want to have shown that he's improved the side's fortunes more. I think the extra year option gets activated and I think he goes to a big club at the end of next season, when he has got us up to around eighth, something like that.
 
I think he’s enjoying the challenge at Palace and competing in the Premier League. Cant see him going to Leipzig at this stage. He has said he enjoys developing players so the Palace model of signing young players with potential suits him. My guess is he’ll stay another year before heading home unless one of the big English clubs convinces him to have a go at Champions League football. Not sure any manager would want to go to a club with Klopp looking over their shoulder anyway.
